I like these as they cause names to be brought up that many of us didn't see play (I can hear the old NFL Films theme song now). I hadn't heard the Nomellini name in a long time. My dad ran in the same circles as his brother, Bob. I remember my dad telling me stories about him. Leo was dang tough... Bob would tell you he, himself, was dang tough, haha. Bob was a big guy, but he would back down immediately when his bully-behavior was met with strength.

Hadn't thought about that in a long time. I miss my dad. He would really love these 49er teams we've seen since he passed. Good to remember! Thank y'all for that!

From the Wikipedia write-up: "While with the 49ers, he played both offensive and defensive tackle, winning All-Pro honors at both positions. He was selected to the All-NFL team six times: two years on offense and four years on defense. "He was as strong as three bulls," said 49ers teammate Joe Perry. "He'd slap you on the back and knock you twenty feet."
In light of the obvious time, attention, and energy that will be expended over the Election results all throughout next week, I decided to post my next 49ers Trivia Question much earlier than originally planned.
For those interested, please tune in tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 1) at about 7:30 PM Pacific time, for the third installment of Name That Niner!

Question III

This 49er name – its soundalike – became famous only after teaming up with another player whose 5-letter last name starts with the letter "O" and ends with the letter "S."

That was just an easy one.

Thought of Owens and Oates. Thought of Hall and Oates. Darryl Hall played for the Niners, and his name is close to Daryl Hall from the band.

Great job Smokey.

I figured Darryl Hall was just not a very well known 49er name. He was there only 1 season.
And, I thought people would immediately start looking for teammates of Terrell Owens, which would have thrown them off.

I did have to look Hall up. Didn't remember him off the top of my head.

I almost could not even use this question. I had to insert "its soundalike" in there, otherwise it just would not have been true. Despite my great desire otherwise, Darryl Hall does not equal Daryl Hall.

I do appreciate you taking the time, plus whomever else out there did so likewise.

My pleasure. Always enjoy games like this.
