'Mask of mystery' is a reference to morse code, not the player himself*.

chatgpt is leading you astray.
Smokey, "mask of mystery" was used primarily to complete the rhyme scheme.

You are ON it Don't get OFF it!

Nope. I just used chatgpt to decode the morse. I'm good with Trey Lance and he was also #5 as a 49er :)

Do it manually yourself.

There is no separation between the letters. You will have to find where one letter ends and the next letter begins.
George Kittle

And I want SmokeyJoe on my trivia night team.

Hey KeepRabbitsOut! Nice to see ya. Sorry, Kittle is not correct.

Well, this is kinda for SmokeyJoe and 49erKing, since you two came VERY close.

If you know what I think you already know, then start from the end, and work your way to the beginning.

You should discover the name right away that way.

[Puhleeze don't tell me I've further confused you. ]

Sam Okuayinonu
So, if no one comes up with the correct name by 7:30 Pacific, I will then reveal the answer.

Why Sam? ?

That means I am way off track.
And there goes my next stab in the dark Sam Sloman.
Way out of my depth here.
Wiki says: "On October 12, 2022, Sloman was signed to the San Francisco 49ers practice squad. He was released on October 18."

That was an extremely short stint with the 49ers.
Hmmm.

Go ahead and reveal. The spacing was killer. Enjoyed the question again.
The answer to the riddle which is Question No. 5 is the border pattern that appears at the top, bottom, and along both sides of the riddle.

SmokeyJoe correctly identified these patterns as being Morse code. Each of the 4 strings are the same. Left to right for the top and bottom, and top to bottom for the two sides.

I selected the shortest first and last name I could find. Three 49er names contain a 3-letter first name and a 3-letter last name. I chose one of those 3.

In case someone would immediately recognize the pattern as a representation of Morse code, I decided to put no separation between any of the letters, to make it harder to solve. Essentially, to make you all WORK to find the name once you knew it was Morse code.

The answer to Question 5: [scroll down]

Amp Lee – RB – 1992 – 1993 – Florida State

Lee was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 1992 NFL draft. A 5'11", 200-lb. running back from Florida State University, Lee played in nine NFL seasons from 1992 to 2000. His best year as a professional came during the 1995 season as a member of the Minnesota Vikings when he caught 71 receptions. In 1997, Lee was named team MVP for the St. Louis Rams. He was a part of the Rams' Super Bowl XXXIV winning team.

Lee caught Joe Montana's final touchdown pass for the 49ers in 1992.

Nice work lol. I was definitely working backwards but was stuck on it being one name (player's last name)
Nice work Iso. Absolultely brilliant. I feel so silly after looking back at the puzzle.
Now can you help finish my escape room project?
