  • "Of noble properties, of prospects" refers to someone of importance or greatness, which Joe Montana certainly was as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
  • "In days present, in days of old" refers to his lasting legacy both during his playing days and in modern times.
  • "He's the only 49er, ever, whose last name's forged from gold" alludes to "Montana," which is also the name of a state known as the "Treasure State" because of its history with gold mining.
Joe Montana's name being associated with "gold" ties it all together perfectly!

DOPEMAN. I truly appreciate all of that thought and effort you put into this. Joe Montana is not the answer.
Almost all of the questions were formulated from obscure 49er names.
Somebody out there will get this in an instant. Yes it is tricky. But for some minds, it isn't.
Ron Ferrari
wouldn't it be Goldson or is that too obvious
This is really is not my thing, not my kind of trivia....but I hate unsolved puzzles....

Ok, we have to start somewhere...let's take a chance that our new found puzzle master goofed up, and accidentally told us he was looking at the Bs. Could be nothing, but we have to start somewhere....

Aaron Banks, Aaron in Hebrew is exalted....not too far from Noble (thought we might be looking for something that is more of a location) and Banks in times past being back by gold.

My Flyer for this post is

Bill Ring

but I hope this is more complex

William being a common noble name, and Ring being an item commonly forged from Gold.

Yes, too obvious.
Remember, only 1 player name is the answer, to this question and all the questions following.

just to get the simple ones out the way...

Bobby Cross and Randy Cross

Rudolph and William both German names of past kings, and Cross being an item commonly forged in gold....

JW Lockett, ? John William? both have been Popes and Kings, and Locket yet another thing fashioned from gold.

Dshearn: there's a phrase at my workplace that has become annoyingly cliche. That is, "you're overthinking it."
I feel that is starting to happen here. Tho' I can't blame you because I admit, this is new and sort of unconventional.
I don't yet want to offer any clues or hints. But I have to say, one will need to dip into his knowledge well.

Who is Isaac Sopoaga

Here's why:

  • "Sopoaga" literally means "gold" in Samoan, fitting the clue about his last name being "forged from gold."

No, not the answer.
However, in a weird kind of way, sorta, that is not necessarily close, but sort of on the right track.

[EDIT]
Also, Dopeman, this is what I mean by calling on your well of knowledge.
This is actually a great guess. I did not even know the Samoan meaning of that last name.
Great try. But still, not the answer.

That is what is tripping me up, I dont have a clue what western names mean, let alone the other names...

History I got... names I do not!

Assuming that is not it...

Freddie Solomon Fredrick king of Germany, Solomon in references to Solomon's treasure.

Sickaa, remember you guessed that.
You are gonna want to guess that name again in an upcoming question. And it will not be the answer there either.
