Well, I disagree.
You eventually did consider the President of the Confederacy.
Also, you were keen to the fact it was a current Laker. I could not confirm that because it would have simply narrowed
down the choices to what, 12 guys?
Then, anybody could have guessed it was Davis.

I would have been stumped probably. I might have thrown out the right answer eventually but it would have simply been process of elimination combined with nowhere else to go (had you said it was a current Laker).

I personally really liked this question. It happens to be at the moment my newest one. I jumped it ahead of others still waiting in the wings.
Also (way off topic), reading about times way back then and people involved is just gripping, even after so many years after first learning anything about those times.

A couple of things:
The list of roster names will only be from the one that was set at the beginning of the season. No new roster additions will be included. They most likely wouldn't have been considered anyway.

I think I prefer limiting this to a 1-hour (or slightly longer, in minutes) format. Then after a set time, if no answer is given, I can post it.
No need to drag it out for very long like times before.
Maybe Question 9 can be posted sometime next week. I'll see how the board action is going. And I do not expecting anybody to be wanting to answer
a trivia question while they're unwrapping or wrapping gifts. lol
But Thanks again "all y'all" for participating!

I thought it was definitely a good, tricky, question to be clear. And not too difficult to drive people to a major research grind. Worked perfectly for your time-limit idea.

GREAT JOB MAN!

Well Stu, I would love to tell you it was briliant insight but actually just popped a bottle of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and looked at the hints and the "can't tell if the current Lakers roster" was an important hint and then it was easy. Current Laker roster + "American" president + same name made it easy

Yes, that's what I figured. I did wonder if people might balk at the notion of the Confederate President counting as a President.
But I thought the distinction was clear.
I am pumped for the next question. But right now I think it will be somewhat easy (unless I change my mind and "pop" up a real tough one).
Thanks again Chauncey!

QUESTION 9

Tonight!
Tonight!

8 PM (Pacific)

QUESTION 9

He quarterbacked in college and twice was his team's Most Valuable Player.
His team won the Super Bowl, in his first Year No 2.
His team won the Super Bowl, in his second Year No. 5.

NAME THAT NINER!
21 minutes, counting.

I might help, some, if you put a comma after "first," and a comma after "second."
However, the capitalization of "Year" in the last two lines serves the same purpose as those commas would.

[Edit] Now about 45 minutes. I don't know if anybody's looked, thought about it, gave up, or what. I am gonna ride it out until 10 or later. I got time.

Question 9 set aside

So I will just chalk it up to very poor timing. If so, my bad. I thought Christmas eve would really work.
Maybe all the key players are second-honeymooning in Mallorca or somewhere exotic. (lol )
And perhaps the question is too vague, not interesting, whatever.

.... will be back in January with Question 10, and shelve this one for the time being.

I'm going Blaine Gabbert

I feel a bit of a quandry krizay.
While I'm thrilled that you took a shot - a very nice shot at that - I was perfectly willing to let Question 9 pass right on by.
But since you tried with the guess, I can certainly go on along.
Gabbert never had a 5th year with any 1 NFL team. So that right there rules him out.
[It was good reading up on him. And I ain't finished the reading yet.]
Thanks for showing up krizay. I get more out of it than you may realize.

Your question said 1st year no.2
2nd year no.5

My thought process was his 1st year with the Chiefs no.2 being his 2nd superbowl.

2nd year no.5 was they won it his 2nd year with them and no. 5 as TB being his 5th team.

Back to the drawing board I guess

Also, I did not see where Gabbert was twice his team's MVP at Missouri. He may have been. I did not look deep enough.
However, mentioning that he QB'd in college, while true, was just a tactic to lead you astray.
So, the key will be figuring out what "first Year No. 2," and "second Year No. 5" really mean.
