Still plenty of season but this is why it drove me nuts that a lot of fans here were celebrating a second place trophy last year. Literally fawning over it(GGG). There's a legit chance we don't go back for a while. You gotta win when you can.

This is a false narrative. Nobody was celebrating losing the SB.

Were many optimistic because the team has done relatively well in recent years and is fairly talented? Of course. They've had a ton of bad breaks combined with bad performance so far this year.

I just don't understand the idea that being a bitter, hateful, angry fan because the team didn't win the SB is somehow the noble way to go here. You aren't some superior being because you b***h all the time.

It's not being superior or noble; it's being honest.

Saying people celebrated a lost super bowl and a 2nd place finish is disingenuous, at best.
This team showed up to camp feeling selfish and full of entitlement. They are all playing and acting like individuals. This will make or break the season in the next couple of weeks.

Keep in mind, that in 58 Super Bowl seasons, only twice has the loser returned to the Super Bowl and win it the very next season ('72 Dolphins and '18 Patriots).

Incorrect. The 1971 Cowboys also lost the SB and then returned the next year to win it.
Last year was the last chance for this crew.

When Shanahan asked the 3rd string TE to block the Chiefs most dangerous defensive player on the 49ers final SB play, the single most important play of Shanahan's career, that was it, the end.

Chris Jones unblocked to the QB ended it all. A fitting end to Kyle's SB aspirations, too cute, too gimmicky, too dumb, to win in the biggest moments. That is what his Wikipedia entry should say when his career is over.

The team you see stumbling around on the football field now is a walking corpse, a poor football playing zombie that doesn't know it's dead yet.

A lot of good points there.

I love the narrative from some fans (and players) that the most recent loss against an inferior opponent would leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth, and the team would bounce back the following week. Only for the team to have a similar collapse….the following week.

Or the other narrative that the 49ers think they can show up and win, therefore the only reason they're losing is bc of lack of effort.

How about reality. This is a mediocre team with some avg to good players in key spots (Purdy, Aiyuk, Deebo) and some great players in key spots (Warner, Williams) and absolutely no depth. Our special teams stink. Our defense is bottom half of the league. And Shanahan has overplayed his rusted playbook. It's a stale team with a stale storyline. No one is interested, and opposing teams know how to attack it.

the dynasty is over (and I call it a dynasty for those fans that think this Shanahan era is full of historic moments and awesome storylines and epic performances and "successful" seasons). in reality, it wasn't a dynasty. It's a bunch of chumps lead by a coach this is competing with Marv Levy for ultimate incompetence…
we are doomed

DO NOT LOSE HOPE...

Kyle has Sorensen and Staley !!!
Remember when many of us were furious after the Sb loss and I said you realize the odds are this was it? Then we got spoken down to about how great Kyle is and this roster is loaded......

We don't own the trenches anymore and more alarmingly to me Purdy looks off compared to what we have seen.

The reality to me is a fairly large roster and coaching staff makeover next offseason. I wonder how feasible this is?

We need 4 o-linemen. 4 d-linemen, 2 safeties, 1-2 linebackers , a corner, and a fullback soon enough.

That can't and won't happen. There's no way they can turn over that much of the roster. Unless they end up with a top 10 pick they won't be able to draft that many good players. They certainly can't find that many good free agents.

All we need is a RT
Fuk the hangover, we are getting over this sh*t and WILL bounce back.
Imagine the 30 for 30s for last year with those playoff comebacks had we won it.... imagine the NFL TURNING POINTs....
