Sure, it would save Jed some money but he still counts against the cap.
I know you're right we can't just trade these guys. F it! Might as well make some splash trades and try to make a run. It'll be the last one for a while.
It'll only be the last one if you sacrifice the future for midseason short term pickups, or if the young guys don't develop. The younger players have actually shown strong promise. Another solid draft next year and letting guys like Huff, Banks and Ward leave and/or trading Deebo or another vet in the offseason will go a long way to turning over the roster successfully. Shanalynch have already done it once (see 2019 roster vs. 2023), but they'll need the assets to do it. Trading either as a buyer or seller in the next couple weeks makes little sense right now, IMO.
