Another solid draft next year and letting guys like Huff, Banks and Ward leave and/or trading Deebo or another vet in the offseason will go a long way to turning over the roster successfully. Shanalynch have already done it once (see 2019 roster vs. 2023), but they'll need the assets to do it. Trading either as a buyer or seller in the next couple weeks makes little sense right now, IMO.

I think the frustrating part is that no matter what we do we're always gonna run into the chiefs or ravens. If we make trades now or if we stand by and draft more talent, I don't see us ever getting over the hump. Teams like the chiefs, ravens, lions, and Vikings are just better coached. They get the most out of their players. So idk anymore. No matter what we do we're gonna lose to one of these teams in the end.

And Mahomes missed Worthy on a deep shot that would have been a walk in touchdown. He was also late on a double move by the TE that allowed Lenoir to recover and break it up. Oh well…?
why resort to whataboutism ? we're talking about Purdy not Mahomes

Because I'm pointing out that of all Purdy's mistakes on Sunday, two completed bombs were emphatically NOT the reason the 49ers lost.

Those teams won't stay static, either, so how good they are is impossible to predict in future years, or even later this season. Just look at how the Eagles' season went last year - things move very vast. We won't play the Chiefs again until 2026 unless the teams improbably meet in the SB again in the next two years, so at this point you can't even worry about them until (at best) February 2025 or February 2026, or (at worst) September-December 2026.

It's a very sad commentary but this team was already out-coached in and lost this game before it ever started. This should not actually be a thing. Amazingly it's not the end of the world though, there's still 10 more games left.

Did not disappoint
I still cannot believe they were in this game to begin with. The Chiefs aren't very good and are a shell of themselves. Their defense is just good enough to win games. I'm jealous

It's like Brady said. The chiefs make the plays when they are needed or present themselves. We do not.

KC secondary was focus on short mid passes with press coverage all day. Could have thrown more deep balls to Cowling or Kittle all day.
Sure……. If the OL can keep a clean pocket

Agree , chiefs are not as good as last year, what does that say about us? We mid to a bad team lol which I'm starting to think is the case, I can name 4 teams in nfc that would beat us right now , last year I couldn't name 1
Mahomes leads the league in interceptions. They just aren't very great offensively but their dang defense is smoking hot. A strange flip in the Chiefs persona. I just don't think we will ever beat the Chiefs. Really bummed about yesterday. Even on their worse day, we can't do it.

Spagnuolo vs 49ers: Last four games.

Their defense is better. My goodness, you can't run on these guys. No running back so far, including King Henry, has exceeded 50 rushing yds and heck I think the Saints and Chargers didn't even breach 50 collectively. Only player to gash them via the ground was Lamar Jackson in the season opener.

And they are not as good as last year because, like us, their skill players are dropping like flies. No Pacheco, Rice, Hollywood Brown. But they still find a way because they have Mahomes and Reid.

We have to give there defensive staff a ton of credit and there GM. They have drafted guys that fit there scheme perfectly. Look how they just keep churning out top notch db's. Still mind boggling we didn't hire they guy from their staff when you just look at there continuous success on that side of the ball. I can't even name one of there linebackers yet they dominated our run game.

Agreed. Their corners are able to matchup in press man coverage, allowing them to run blitz a ton to stop the 49ers rushing attack. On offense, none of our receivers not named Kittle could get open quickly enough. Part of that is on the player, the other is on Kyle for not having any answers, and the last is on Purdy for making stupid decisions. He plays like Vrett Favre but without the arm.

Salt in the wounds is Mahomes pouting like a little baby throughout the game but then he makes Warner, Winters, and Mustapha his lil biotches to seal the game. Though I truly think Mustapha held up a bit at the goal line because Mahomes already broke the plane.
