Rollouts and screens. We need a starting FS, not depth.

So, the further we get, the more we can see what needs to be done. Here's a quick recap of steps so far on how to improve the quality of each of the following areas:

COACHING STAFF
- Fire Brian Schneider & Nick Sorensen
- Add Saleh or Jim Schwartz if available

OFFENSIVE SCHEME
- More quick hitters, screens, picks, and rubs
- Start having Brock set protection calls in key situations (3rd down, under 2 min, etc.) -- shouldn't be too hard to do on a limited basis

DEFENSIVE SCHEME
- More disguised blitzes & coverages
- coach hard on lane integrity

PERSONNEL IMPROVEMENTS
- Draft/sign new quality OL (C & OT minimum), LB, FS, TE, DE, DT, and speed WR to replace poor performers or overpaid players

FINANCIAL IMPROVEMENT
- Release Hargrave, Leonard Floyd (Post-Jun 1)
- Trade or release Deebo (Post Jun 1)
- Trade or release Juice
- Do not re-sign Banks, Ward, Campbell, Yiadom, Givens, or DFF, and replacement them with cheaper upgrades in draft

I'd add Ulbrich to the DC options.

How do I get a spot in the Niners FO? I think I could help.
Idk I know Juice is getting older but he is still a hell of a player.
There's too many guys who are injury prone/older. CMC, Trent, Kittle, Deebo etc. Time to look at injecting youth. It's up to York to mandate to Shanahan that young players play. If Shanahan doesn't like it, fire him.

Get rid of Lynch and bring in a president/GM who has full say over the roster. Shanahan can coach. He isn't good enough at drafting/picking out the groceries.

Most of the defense needs an overhaul.

Stop giving in to B players with respect to contracts. Aiyuk isn't a # 1 receiver on a contending team. He should have been traded or left to hold out.

Jim Schwartz is an intriguing option. The Browns are ranked in bottom half of the league in defense this year. He might be ripe for picking. If Kyle is smart, he would get rid of Staley, demote Sorenson and give Schwartz an assistant head coach position.

I feel like he'd be such a beastly hire because he'd be less likely to get a HC job anywhere, and maybe he could be like a Spags to us.
I would be all into a shift to the Tampa 2, we already have the hardest position to fill in that defense with Fred Warner.

In hindsight, with as many fresh faces as we have seen on D, they should have simplified the defense more. There has been game loosing break downs due to people missing assignments.

THIS YEAR:

1) Adjust the offense to include more of the quick game to stretch the defense wider. Who cares if the offense is dink and dunk if it moves the chains. This can help open up the middle for running and potentially provide more chances for deep play action.

2) Utilize Brock's running ability more. That means zone reads and QB RPO on draws. Just make sure he knows to be safe.

3) Scheme up some more creative formations, motions, and misdirection that teams haven't seen before. Especially for short yardage and the red zone. Keeping teams guessing in those situations will make us a lot more unpredictable, more dangerous, and consequentially more effective/successful in those spots.

NEXT YEAR/FUTURE:

1) Fix the weak spots on OL (LG, C, RT). With a shorter QB, you need a beefier interior OL to keep guys out of his face so Brock has lanes more consistently and or more space in front of him so that when he releases it, the ball can be over the heads of the DL/OL instead of the trajectory being cutoff from a shorter distance which leads to more deflections/batdowns. I'd draft a center and OT, and sign competition. I might even try Jaylon Moore at LG if he's brought back. If Feliciano can return, he may be a cheap option at C.

2) Draft a future star at LB and competition at S, along with depth at DE. I like Sam O in the rotation. He's still got upside but needs to learn more moves. We might consider signing a safety for competition too.

3) Put a massive emphasis on acquiring proven talents on special teams in FA and the draft. That means guys who can tackle downfield, and block for returns, but also threats to score on returns.

OK so Brock is running more and Kyle has been a little more creative but we're still not getting enough quick hitters or screens..

To update my list now.. And add to it for the future part..

* FIRE/REASSIGN SORENSEN - I've never seen such situationally awful football on defense. He never seems to have the right answers to get off the field on third down. Especially third and long, which is ridiculous. Red zone, short yardage, and under two minutes we just never stop anyone when we need to. There will be too many guys out there who are upgrades to not bring them in.

* FIRE BRIAN SCHNEIDER - We have by far the worst unit in the league and we've not been good enough for years.

* Cut the dead weight. That means let Deebo go. He's a captain but reminds me of post injury Bowman, just not the same player anymore. Let Banks walk, bench Brendel and McKivitz, and draft their replacements. It's also time to admit Juice isn't doing much to help the offense anymore. I don't think he's blocking as well as he used to and no one's afraid of him split out wide..

* Get more speed at receiver to benefit from an improved OL.

* Get a LOT of help at linebacker. We need two more starting caliber guys ready in the wings. Fred needs help.

* Get Safety competition for Brown.

Like all of your suggestions there but I think you are missing a big one. The 49ers defensive isn't generating any pressure on the QB outside of Nick Bosa so while offensive line is a need you also have to consider pass rushers. I think Cowing and Pearsall look generally fine as far as rookies go at WR so there is hope for that group.
