Post-game Thoughts: Week 8

- Pearsall looks very promising. Hopefully he can keep growing and becoming a big part of this offense.

- Jayir Brown still sucks. The INT was a gift, not a special play or anything. He was responsible for that awful coverage bust late.

- Guerendo suddenly looks better than Mason (more on him in a second). He can get to the edge and he is falling forward seemingly just as much or more than Mason was. He can't block though...

- Mason is pissing me off on a weekly basis. He refuses to hit the hole even when it's right in front of him. I'm absolutely sick of him dancing around at the marker. Go straight ahead and get the first down. I would not be opposed to looking for another UDFA runner and trading him next year because I honestly feel he's been part of the problem costing us over the past 4 weeks.

- Our defense continues to look gassed late in games and unable to get any push in the 4th. What is going on here with their conditioning? We let both Dallas and Seattle back in games with late drives where guys had all day to throw. Conner and Hunt spanked us late in their games against us. This is a huge problem.

- Kyle Shanahan showcased a ton of creativity today, and it helped win us this game when the defense tried to choke it away. Credit given where credit is due.

- Purdy didn't play his best and we are very lucky some of his mistakes didn't hurt us like they could've. He still played mostly well and I'm glad he bounced back decently from last week. That said, while this is better than what we probably would've seen from Jimmy, it wasn't too significantly better.. To me at least. He still has a lot to clean up.

- Cowing needs more snaps over Conley.

- Pay Lenoir ASAP.
Ronnie Bell needs to go on top of that

Does Sorensen ever blitz or do anything to scheme a pass rush? If we make the playoffs I don't trust him one bit.
Mason is playing busted imo. Hasn't been right for a few weeks but we're running out of bodies.

In past seasons we'd be putting our foot on the oppositions throat when we're well on top but we seem to be backing off this season instead. Don't think it's a fitness issue, as soon as the game was there to be won or lost we had plenty of legs on the last Cowboys drive. Feels more like a mentality thing when we feel like we have the game comfortably in hand.

Our O looked almost like normal in the 3rd quarter there, not everything was forcing the ball 10+ yards downfield. Maybe a few limitations (no Aiyuk, no Jennings, no CMC) is what Kyle needed to get a bit more creative.

Ronnie Bell did down the ball at the 1 yard line though. That was pretty good.

Green is a good corner

lenoir needs to be extended

The offense looked good in the 3rd qt. We need more of that the rest of the games. This also helps the defense from being gassed late in games.

Sorenson needs to stop calling prevent defense when we have a lead

I seriously hope CMC is back after the bye
To me, the biggest takeaway from the game was that Kyle made the exact adjustments we needed to win. If not for some huge penalties early, we could've scored a lot more.

We wanted rubs, pick plays, other man beating routes -- we got that.

We wanted more screens -- we got that.

We wanted more creative plays schemed up -- we saw that in both the run and pass game last night.

I'm definitely still not even close to sold on Sorensen. Games should be over with a three score lead with 10 mins left in the fourth, but Dallas scored inexcusably fast on two possessions and was really close to getting in position for a game winner if not for a drop.

Did you catch the Hail Mary attempt the Colts did vs the Texans. The way the Texans overloaded the line on AR15s right to force him to have to roll left was one of those "I miss Demeco" moments for me. Just a smart almost common sense move. Instead we have a DC who keeps going to prevent D which hasn't been effective
yeah I'm a bit tired of failing on 3rd and 1's with Mason
I like the use of hurry-up at times.
Mason is hurt and has been for a few weeks - he has only been out there as we are short on bodies on the run game. Hopefully CMC being back, I'd rest Mason a few weeks, Gurrendo has filled in nicely. Imagine the three headed monster if all those guys were fit.

C Ward might be hurt too, he is certainly playing like it.

4th quarter was horrendous, if that wasn't the Cowboys we would have lost on the last drive, the D totally switched off.
It wasnt a perfect game but it also shows we can win games where everything isn't perfect.

Defense didn't look good in the 4th quarter. I didn't think Jayir Brown played that bad other than the play where he ran into his teammate like a dummy. His interception was nice and all him.

There was no pass rush other than Bosa it seemed. We rarely blitz and thats something they may need to install.

The rookie class is balling. Did we just get 4 long term starters?

It was a good win and i think our defense is going to get better especially if Greenlaw can return.

brown has always had big gaps in busted plays.

D conditioning could be an issue but I still think late game scheme is whack.

Endo, had two great blitz pick-ups against the chiefs.....he will be fine on blitz pick-up....he did a ton of it in college....

I think he is the anti=Brock Purdy......

If he needs a yard...he will try to get a yard....we can already see it this early in his NFL career. He has left yardage on the table by being fixated on what he needs for a first down.

I am sure he will develop...

I think he is the canary in the coal mine... If the line is playing well....he will look great.....if the line is sucking....he will suck.

To me he is not a something for nothing type back, or a regularly make your own hole type of back, but as long as the line can let him get up to speed untouched...he has enough wheels to punish teams.

I remember when Demeco Ryans had that game where Devante Adams went off and was targeted an insane amount of times. I had the same feeling last night with Lamb. Why is he not bracketed on every down? Force them to move the ball by targeting someone else. Luckily something changed on that final drive and Lamb wasn't a factor. But the two drives before that was frustrating to watch Lamb go off.
