I don't get the Ben Johnson obsession. Brad Holmes built that roster and added all that talent. And Johnson clearly has some issues; who knows what happened in that commanders interview, but he tucked tail and ran back to Detroit.

Both the Commanders and Ben Johnson claimed they turned each other down.

Commanders said: He didn't interview well.

Ben Johnson said: They're basketball guys that were a little too confident in their football opinions.

Okay well, if he didn't like the Commanders job, what about the other 7 job openings? Is this dude afraid to be a HC or does he think too highly of himself and want too much power for his first job as a head coach? IMO he throws up some red flags, if he does think that highly of himself, he better take his team to the Super Bowl in his first season as HC or it's gonna get ugly fast.

I think so, unless his two RB's go with him, I don't see him being as in his first two seasons at least.

Well I'm sure he'd do a better job using CMC and Mason than Kyle did. I'd argue that CMC/Mason combo is more deadlier than Gibbs/Montgomery if used right.

It's not so much those RBs as it is their OL. That's the problem with this team, on both sides. The trenches are WEAK.

The same exact people pushing him were pushing Josh McDaniels in 2020. Some folks just really like bright, flashy objects. He might turn out to be a really good head coach or he might flop, better, more hyped HC prospects have.

Going to go out on a limb and guess he doesn't make it to four conference championships and two SBs in his first seven years as a HC.

Forgot to mention their O-line but yes you're right about that too.

I heard Dieter Kurtenbach say that Ben Johnson and Chicago seem like they're headed on a collision course for one another.

I've got a lower bar. I'll settle for one Super Bowl win.

I think we can say both have offensive chops, but imo the reason we don't have 6 is due to HC weaknesses in game management, ST management, Defense management if not blessed with a DC that handles that on his own, willingness to play the best current players over declining or injured name players, not choosing to give Patrick Mahomes the first opportunity to win as well as giving him four downs on every series when you've won the toss, blaming the players when you've made such aggrievous errors thereby exposing an inferiority complex, keeping the team motivated and fired up and positive in their belief in winning, being aggressive, and being willing to take chances on offense to put the opponent away before it is an obvious necessity.

The value of a lost SB is worth a bucket of something warm, a horrible statistical position, draft place punishment, SB hangover, and a feeling in the team that what's the point if the coach is not capable of getting us over the hump if we get him there again anyway.

Josh McDaniels is an inferiority personality type that tries to compensate by bullying his team with his power (like Nolan), that has every player hating him in a nanosecond on two different teams a decade apart, and who has no place in any position of leadership. I for one am not a person that would be open to giving Josh McDaniels a shot, while I would be open to giving Ben Johnson a shot. Proven people in all aspects of head coaching are not frequently available, so it has to be hire someone competent, intelligent, and articulate in areas outside his area of proven expertise in a bit of trial and error. Been there and done that with Kyle.

This is a great post and all that these Shanny's groupies will say is "We've been in the Super Bowl 2 times with Kyle" because that's all they say all the time like a broken record.

There is still a lot of talent. There is a lot of rollover cap going into next year. We have the ability to pay Brock and resign a few guys. Draft well and ad maybe one or two upper tier players. Have to upgrade a couple of coaches as well. A couple of vets are probably gone as well.

Really this is the key. They need a homerun draft. They've had so many bad ones that it has caught up to them.

Agree for sure. This year looks like the best draft John and Kyle have put together. Hope for another good one.
