Other than Purdy, do we have another legit QB option?

He's short and lacks arm strength.

Who cares about arm strength?

Montana and Young had 2 of the weakest arms in football.

Arm strength doesn't matter.

Yep. A lot of the people on here making these dumbass suggestions don't realize that they're going to get another 2015-2018 era if Jed does the things they want.

I think based on Purdy's very average performance this year it's very realistic to have the ability to assess him for another year if we do have that option?

Yards: 5th
YPA: 3rd
Passing TDs:12th
Rushing TDs: 4th
QBR: 6th
Passer Rating: 14th

Average. SMH
I just don't want to overpay for Purdy.

the WR room is the mess. Deebo isn't it anymore. BA hurt. rookies and JJ. JJ is the top guy right now. JJ doesn't separate he's a contested catch and physical tank. he just bullies ppl. if i'm QB i want WRs who get open. we don't have that here.

Screenbo never WAS it. He was always a running back being called a "wide receiver." Now he's not even great after the catch.

The alternative is starting over at the most important position in sports.

Would I rather not pay more money than he is worth? Sure. But Purdy is a top 10 QB in football, by most if not all measures. I would rather have him than not have him.

We can tag him, I believe for 2 years.

i view QB performance as more reflective of the overall health of the offense. our WR room is pretty messed up right now. and no CMC all year. but a lot of our O metrics are pretty good. I think Deebo is really letting us down. i try to imagine if we get Pearsall and Cowing some speedy guys on the field. takes time. but if they develop they should be making their mark as we go forward.
our offense is built for dinking and dunking jimmy g style and running the ball.

we need to re-design/re-work this offense into something else. it may include getting rid of juice and kittle and possibly deebo.

that's my theory. it may not be true. but i think we need to make it so the QB is the star of the show.

none of this YAC BROS nonsense

it should be so damn pass happy that aiyuk doesn't complain about jack s**t. we should basically run the offense like we have prime peyton manning.

You are 100% spot on. I've been saying this since last season. Kittle, Deebo, Aiyuk, etc were all players that fit Jimmy/Kyle. Purdy/Kyle is a totally different combination that requires a more pass oriented OL and route runners rather than YAC guys/gadget players. Aiyuk somewhat fits but is not ideal. Deebo is obsolete. Kittle works because he's such a good blocker but that's not as necessary anymore as we don't need to run the ball as much. It's going to take time to transition the offensive players to fit Purdy's style. We're going through those growing pains in real time.
We had Darnold and shipped him off to O'Connell and the Vikings.
