I don't have the time, luxury, or dedication to watch or certainly rewatch or even watch games after the fact.
So I am kinda talking out of turn but I don't know if Purdy deserves that much blame. I mean he might.
Purdy to me, while they don't remotely compare in terms of physical tools or style of play, is similar to Josh Allen for a time last year. He's at times the primary reason that you are in a position to win and will even win you a game like he did against Tampa Bay and like he and Jennings nearly did against the Rams. But he also might lose a game like he did to the Chiefs. But yet, at the same time, without some of the plays he DID make, as well as the defense, there wouldn't have even been a chance of winning that game.
I do think he's trying to do too much. But considering we're at a time in which everyone's focus is always on the quarterback, the injuries around him, the team's bad play overall, and our WR'S dead last separation rate, I get it.
I wonder how much the off-season hold out drama effects teams, especially the more drama gets carried into the media. I mean it happens every year so there is nothing scientific to it. But you look at us, the Cowboys, and the Bengals, and coming in people would have had all 3 as playoff teams. Probably all 3 will miss the playoffs. Injuries haven't helped either, obviously.

This team is not suffering from a Super Bowl hangover It's more like a COMA!! The FO has not addressed the OL to protect their upcoming franchise investment. This team does not make splash signings and wastes a lot of picks (even though there have been hidden gems selected). I am becoming disgusted with what I am seeing and have been seeing for the last 5 years (SB's included; should have won BOTH).

You got a guy who's in charge of making protection calls playing like complete trash
they can't have him as the starting center anymore. JF should be that guy and they NEED to prioritize that this off season

It weird how they prioritized Center for one season (Richberg) then when he didn't pan out they said, "F it, we'll go the journeyman route".

I don't like sacking head coaches during the season, and I believe that the Jets have made a huge and stupid error sacking their GM. I think I disagree with the idea of sacking Lynch and certainly not half way through the season. Special teams, on the other hand, seems as though it may need an emergency reaction. But who would we pick up to replace him?

Someone once said things are never as bad as they seem or as great as we would like.
I think that's where we are now with the Niners. I was expecting a good year even though we have that SB losing jinx. I didn't expect big camp holdouts, season ending injuries early on to the best WR and one of the top interior linemen. I certainly didn't expect to see the top draft pick get shot. Then to top it off their #1 offensive weapon develops tendinitis and misses the first half of the season. Now the top edge rusher has an injury that could sideline him or at least slow him down.
Just not our year. It happens.

We had a different OL coach back then, I think it was John Benton?
Brendel was a Chris Forrester guy. He coached him in Miami. IMO as long as he's the OL coach I doubt they put a ton into the OL in general (FA spending high picks). He's pretty much said that

Dude doesn't have one winning season in 5 years. Why wouldn't you fire him. Look at the state of that team.

Ohio I think all you say is fair. I think Purdy is an excellent QB who has not at all reached his ceiling yet. I believe it is like you said, he tries to do too much sometimes. Kyle specifically says the system tries to avoid having the QB do too much so it's one of those things where I honestly agree with Kyle in that there's times Brock needs to understand a sack or a throwaway is better than a turnover or hospital ball.

Agree. Brendel gets owned regularly, botches protections, and blows blocks. There is no excuse for keeping him starting. I think Kyle needs to step in and make this call. Forester IMO is worthy of being replaced too. He chooses favorites and is an extremely poor evaluator of talent. He wouldn't have had Puni starting if the injury ahead of him never happened.

1) Lynch is not getting held accountable enough as it's his fault for our incredibly poor personnel due to his awful decision to trade up for Lance and absolutely horrific 2022 & 2023 drafts, which netted next to zero quality depth, no quality special teams players, and only 2 starters (Purdy, Jayir Brown).
2) Kyle is fielding a competitive team in spite of this, with an average margin of loss of just 4.6 pts/game this year. Shanahan is not blameless, but he's near the bottom of the list of problems. There's evidence he's trying to adjust the offense, but indeed still has more work to do. His DC choices the past two years haven't worked, but we cannot ignore the lack of options being available as we played late in the postseason both times, so leeway is certainly deserved there.
3) Purdy needs to step up. Poor decisions/mental mistakes have cost us in 4/5 close losses this year. He's still not fully developed mechanically either, but the issues are fixable. Data suggests most QBs see huge drops in turnovers between year 4-6. Mentally, he needs to realize that if the team is struggling, he can help it more by protecting the ball than by taking chances. TBD if he can fix this going forward.
4) Schneider and Sorensen both deserve to be fired. Unlike Kyle, who is the only coach producing something in spite of poor and/or depleted personnel, Schneider's group is the worst in the NFL, and Sorensen's group folds in nearly every critical situation and often can't even get off the field in spots where they should have a huge edge. Saleh had no talent for awhile and tons of injuries and still got more out of his guys. If Schneider and Sorensen were quality, they would be able to do the same.
Bumping the abbreviated version of the OP for folks here ^

The drafting and free agency have had huge misses over the last 3 years and you can see it clearly on the roster. Just look at the talent on the d line. They had to patch together an entire d line from free agency. How did we get so far away from drafting and developing. At one point we had a pipeline of dudes and reclamation projects. Now it's just a cast of average to below average overpriced free agents. Floyd and Hargraves impacts have been minimal.
As far as the o line what more can be said. Been saying the same s**t for 3/4 years now. But they still have yet to solve the issues. They didn't even attempt to solve it this off season. But hey let's just keep drafting WR's that still can't beat man coverage. We have two legit quality lineman in Puni and TW.
On the field KS is numero uno to blame. Continues to not give a s**t about special teams and it shows. 2 consecutive bad hires for DC. And the offense is a total s**t show. Brock hasn't taken a step forward. I expected him to play better. Not on KS that he threw the ball 5 yards over Deebo's head last game. IT's a lot of blame to go around in terms of on the field play
They gotta prioritize the trenches over wr's and rb's. Shout out Kittle the only aging vet really earning his check this year.
