Demanding that he constantly hit tight windows while we can't get a run game going AND dodges defenders from our bad Oline play looks like a desperate attempt to scapegoat. Which I get--we're a bad team and people are looking to attack the one thing they want to blame.

I think we either have a low floor when it comes to talent depth, they aren't being coached well, or the players across the board have lost faith.

We're just BAD right now.

I think my frustration with Brock is just that he's forcing too many throws this year. If guys aren't separating, you gotta just live for another down. I feel like every pick this year has been due to a bad decision as opposed to an inaccurate throw.

So he holds the ball too long because guys arent getting separation. He has run more because the line breaks down. If he throws to non separated receivers, he is making a poor decision. Should he throw it out of bounds or take sacks on that many plays? Are his "forces" a product of an offense that isnt giving time ? Is his footwork because he has to be ready to bail? Too simple to blame it on Purdy.

I was waiting for someone to say this. He's both holding the ball too long and forcing passes too often? He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

When the pass rush gets home before receivers get into their routes and start to separate, we should expect poor results in the passing game. Hard to isolate that to Purdy, though he is in part to blame.

I get what the OP is trying to do and appreciate the analysis, but I think the premise of this thread is impossible.
The 49ers are done for this season and it has to do with an aging roster, a team lacking depth through the draft, and a QB who is not the QB the Niners need moving forward. Purdy is okay, and is a role player but not a QB that takes over a game. He's been elevated by Shanahan and by other players around him. Bottom line the 49ers window was last season and they failed to win the Super Bowl. They need to rebuild now and are probably 2 years from a major run again IF they can draft the right people. Biggest need, the O line. Defense isn't playing that well either. They'll be back IF they make adjustments this offseason and get a defensive coach that can coach and draft to their needs.

I think folks are over complicating what I've said. I am a huge Purdy fan, it's his decisions do need to improve. Kyle put it plain and simple, once the play is ran, if nothing's there, you have three options:

1) scramble, which he does a great job at

2) throw it away if possible

3) take the sack

My criticisms are just with #2 and 3. This year he has taken some bad sacks when he could've thrown it away, and at other times, he has forced it into double and triple coverage for a turnover instead of taking the sack and a still giving us a chance at a field goal try.

If he can improve there and we fix the OL, he'll be back to looking like a star again.

The head coach is responsible for all of that. So it's Shany.

And what about all his success? You know, 4 NFCC's and 2 SB appearance's? Top 3-5 offense in the league?
Those are tough questions for him..

What success? We never won anything with Shany or the DORKS.

Shany = 0 - 8 (counting this year).

DORKS = 0 - 24 (counting this year).

In full seasons.

That does not track with my personal observations....

I have always felt Purdy holds the ball looking for a kill shot. To me....that is just who he is.

I think Purdy is a unicorn, a guy with the mentality and the ability to make difficult throws. Dude is rare.

I hope the front office recognizes the potential, and shifts their focus to building up a juggernaut o-line.

The numbers just prove that Brock can beat the blitz with his arm, and keep attacking the middle of the secondary.

I really hope the team gets the parts around him to buy enough time in the pocket for guys to shake loose 15-25 yards deep, and this offense will keep humming.

I think the good news is, virtually all our problems are fixable. We should have plenty of options to upgrade at DC and probably ST coach too.

We should have at least nine draft picks to restock the roster.

Kyle will have a chance to tweak his offense. People who say he's too stubborn to change don't watch film enough. He has changed some things, but I think he's still working towards the other adjustments he can make to improve the scheme and beat what defenses are doing now.

Purdy will have another year of experience in reading defenses and another off-season to work on technique.

Our players will also come back more rested and hungry due to no postseason run.

I'm actually more optimistic than most. There's hope for the future.. But we have to see what we do in the off-season.

Deep down, before the season started, I felt like it could be very much a cool down season. But thought, well maybe I am wrong and we could be kick ass again. Boy, it felt like dominoes, just one thing after another. I feel like we can win it all in Santa Clara but we really need to get our s**t together. Definitely time to rebuild. There was a push to get rid of Wilks..but yeah, this surfer guy was the answer? We may have been too hard on Wilks? Lol. I think Wilks would have left anyway as he didn't seem comfortable on the 9ers. Lots to clean up and change on the team! But yeah, fixable. Start with a haircut, Shanny haha. Long hair Shanny ain't doing much lol
