Are they going to interview him or are they done with the interviews?
Saleh and Niners must have a gentleman's agreement in place if we're not interviewing anyone else

Did it ever occur to anyone that Shanahan firing two DCs in a row might turn some candidates off. Maybe Allen, Ulbrich and others talked to Kyle on the phone and told him no.
I'm guessing we already know that we're getting Saleh. The disappointing thing is that we're not at least picking the brains of any other coordinators.

I feel like it's either Jaguars or nothing for Saleh as far as HC goes.

And Jaguars beat reporters are saying that Ben Johnson and Liam Cohen are the two favorites for that job. With Detroit knocked out, we might see some quick resolution for some of these jobs.

If I'm the Jaguars, I would certainly not hire a Defensive HC.
Helping Trevor Lawrence should be their priority.

Dan Quinn is a defensive minded coach with Daniels. You got DR and Stroud. Tomlin a defensive coach got more out of Russell Wislon than the great offensive mind of Sean Peyton. Not to mention how did the last two offensive minded coaches work out for Jacksonville? I could easily see why they go with defensive minded coach

Always exceptions but most of th successful teams have an offensive minded HC. That makes sense since the league has turned the game into a passing paradise. Defensive minded coaches can do okay if they can hire a good OC.
I think niners are feeling the heat with Ulbrich going down, they don't have a good choice after saleh anymore, I'd offer saleh a boat load of money right now

Or the other two DCs became head coach.

I find it odd with all the HC openings he will not be offered a job. The Jets don't count. He still brings that defensive mind in to a HC position. I do not think he returns to DC.

so who?

Feeling the heat? They didn't even interview him that I know of

we may be trying to move away from our current scheme
Jan 19, 2026….
As the 49ers prepare to face off with the Eagles in the NFCCG, defensive coordinator Robert Salah has interviews with the Dolphins and Browns for their head coaching vacancies.
Shanahan explains "we're just giving Bobby some time and stuff. We got guys in the building we like who can run meetings and stuff.
He'll be back with the guys for Friday walk through."

Yeah about that Staley thing.
Sure he was a bad HC with the Chargers but he was a really, really good DC for the Rams.
Plus I remember when some Webzoners said that hiring Kocurek was stupidity since he had been fired from the Lions and the Dolphins.
I bet some people here would have lost their mind if Spags was hired as DC by Kyle in 2017 after his wonderful run with the Rams and his incredible second DC job with the Giants.
And I want Dennis Allen or Robert Saleh by the way as DC.

Dennis Allen hasn't been an effective HC. What has he done as DC for us that don't follow him?

There's no evidence he was even on their radar. Ulbrich ended up in the same exact spot he was in, a DC with a defensive head coach looking over his shoulder.
