can you really count 22 and 23 as he wasn't the DC anymore

He's always been the DC. Even as HC he was the defensive playcaller. Joe Woods started calling plays for the Saints after Allen was fired.
As DC from 2015-2021 he had 2 out of 7 seasons as a top 5 D, the rest were around 14

As HC 2022-2024, the D dropped to top 10 and out of the top 15 to get him fired.

The only thing that i would like would from this move is if he could stay longer than a year and bring experience

Yea but first they have to fire Sorenson, lol.
Schwartz would be my pick. He can scheme and adjust, something Sorensen has trouble with. He runs the wide nine, and our d line coach will probably stay. He allows Kyle to concentrate on the offense. He would make a huge difference, he knows what he is doing!

We may have to wait until they get through the player exit interviews. I would imagine they'll have some candid conversations with the defensive leaders on the squad before making a final decision on Sorensen.
that said, I'm hoping we move on from him and bring in some new ideas. I like the ideas of Allen and Schwartz (if available ) more than Saleh and Ulbrich, just to bring something different to the scheme.

it'd be good, but... he's not available. Still DC of the Browns. He also has expressed his desire to be a head coach as recently as this last off season.

thats the biggest reason why i wouldn't waste time with him. He will be gone after one year
Saleh interviewing with Jags for HC. I doubt he gets it. We need to wait for that. So much for wanted to be close to Michigan.
Imo the best scenario by far is Kyle checking his ego and hiring a young defensive coordinator who could be innovative.

If we go back with the whole run it back in the wide Nine because it used to work three seasons ago...that will be just treading the water.

Kyle needs to delegate more and realize that the defensive philosophy he's been clinging to is not working. Let defensive guys do their thing.

you may have not noticed that there are other DCs who run the same scheme.. so it's not Kyle or the scheme

We need the right DC and the right players

Really? Is he linked to any HC openings this season?
