Again, Kyle fired the defensive coordinator (who held the Chiefs to 3 pts in the first half...13pts for three qtrs) right after the Super Bowl with no legit hire planned to take his place...someone legit to help keep us in it during our Super Bowl window. But what happend? Defense got worse...offensive players like Purdy and Deebo started pressing, trying to do too much...and we missed the playoffs.

That guy must be way, way in demand right?

Since Kyle screwed up so badly, Wilks surely has his pick of jobs to choose from?

Do you think Kyle has done a good job during this DC / ST hiring process ? Seems like Sorenson is a lock for ST and Staley will be penciled in as DC unless Saleh becomes available.

Are you actually going to spin this as a good situation ?

It seemed pretty clear the players weren't buying in, outside of the obvious criticism that could be leveled around his play-calling. We're not going to stick with a bad fit, in multiple ways, just because a replacement isn't a sure thing.

I remember reading that Wilks wasn't even the guy game planning for the Sb. It was Nick and Kyle.

Wouldn't be surprised. They were surprisingly competent for most the game.

Why don't we wait to see who's hired before we proclaim anything? Also SF doesn't have to report any interviews unless they are currently employed.

AGAIN, you don't fire a coach like that unless you have someone lined up ready. Not someone you just f**king settle on because everyone else was taken...

Why do I have to explain that? Especially to you?

You're just arguing to argue I guess.

FIre a coach like what? Again no one hired the guy for any post. He has a history of being completely mediocre as a dc. Sorensen was given a shot and failed. But it wouldn't have been any better with Wilks. Offense carried his defense all year. Easy to call D when you have big leads all the time.

Yeah I'm not 100% on it, I feel like it was a Mike Silver report or something. I'd have to look it up.

I remember hearing it. I was just glad they let him go. I thought our defense underperformed nearly all year. Had to argue against the points and yards crowd a bunch.

Those Chiefs were a mediocre offense? Pat Mahomes and Andy Reid?

And yes our defense tailed off BECAUSE ONCE A f**kING GAIN, OUR OFFENSE COULDN'T SUSTAIN DRIVES TO PUT THEM AWAY! Of course they tailed off, THIS WAS NOTHING f**kING NEW! It has happened in the past against the same team, at the Super Bowl... happened against the Rams in the NFC Championship game.

Yes they were a mediocre offense. They had an elite defense though.

Same as this year.

Wilks remains jobless, because he stinks.

Andy Reid with Pat Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Isiah Pacheco are a mediocre offense? Why in the flying f**k do I waste my time in place.

And Wilks stinks? Bet he gets a DC gig before your boy Sorensen sniffs an interview again. He might even get the Falcons gig.

Edit- yeah yeah forgot about Ulbrich.

You're wasting your breath. This is the pre- mode of the Shanahan supporters. They're just priming before the spin begins on how Staley was a waaayyy better prospect than Ulbrich, Allen, Lou. And then Sorenson will be heralded the savior of the STs just because…

it's become a sad state of affairs in Ninerland. The bright side to all this is? Shanahan is hammering those nails in his coffin. Jed gonna toss his ass along with Staley and Sorenson by next season's end, and we can hopefully start rebuilding behind a real coach. Imagine if we had Johnson (HC), Allen (DC), and Rizzi (ST) right now. What a formidable coaching crew that would be.

I personally criticized their process this go round, but I also understand we don't have all the information. Would def be unhappy if it's as reported. Not even thrilled at the idea of Saleh.

That has nothing to do with Wilks being bad and getting canned. It was earned.

Interesting strategy. Most teams openly talking about their interviews for coordinator positions. 49ers hiding it except for Saleh. Oh, and Barrows telling us it's Saleh or bust for Kyle. Yea I'm sure they interviewed all those top candidates. Just kept it hush

Don't care for Wilks. He was a bad hire. In hindsight, seems like Kyle knew he was a bad hire from the get go. Just like Sorenson. And looks like we'll be 3/3 with Staley. Question is…when this team f**ks up another season with Staley and ST specialist Sorenson, do you finally jump off the Kyle tart wagon….or do you chime in"run it back" for the 9th straight season ?

It depends on what actually happens and how they perform. Crazy concept.

MM just today said they don't have to report every interview formal or informal. He stated they have spoken to others. Everyone knows Saleh is 1A.

Nick wagoner just said today they had interest in Allen if Saleh didn't come. They also know Allen has long been considered to be Johnson's guy if he took an HC job.

Like I said wait to see who's hired before you have your little dance party

I will have my dance party when Kyle joins forces with Watson in Cleveland. And Sorenson, Staley, and Moody go with him…
