Again, Kyle fired the defensive coordinator (who held the Chiefs to 3 pts in the first half...13pts for three qtrs) right after the Super Bowl with no legit hire planned to take his place...someone legit to help keep us in it during our Super Bowl window.

Because he was bad all season and a nice performance against a mediocre offense, which tailed off when it mattered most, wasn't enough to keep the job.

Notice how nobody's hired him.

Those Chiefs were a mediocre offense? Pat Mahomes and Andy Reid? My God the reach.

And yes our defense tailed off BECAUSE ONCE A f**kING GAIN, OUR OFFENSE COULDN'T SUSTAIN DRIVES TO PUT THEM AWAY! Of course they tailed off, THIS WAS NOTHING f**kING NEW! It has happened in the past against the same team, at the Super Bowl... happened against the Rams in the NFC Championship game.

Edit- eitherway he was only with us for one year....I'm sure if Kyle let him have full control of how the defense is run, we would have looked better this season after the players and the coach have more experience with each other.

My issue is making a firing like that, without having a legit replacement ready. Especially when we were expected to make a Super Bowl run.

How would you rank the 49ers offense this year?
Poor.

I think Saleh is going to hook up with the Jags for that Muslim connection.

The owner isn't even a practicing Muslim and since when do owners hire based on religion? Weird take.

It's based on race, they're both of Middle Eastern decent. But this is a sports forum, let's keep politics out of it. I guess I rub some people the wrong way, that wasn't my intent. But the truth is revealed about race and our political views in this country to some. So, let's stop this here and get back to talking about who we should hire. Sorry if I'm not in tune with some of your own personal beliefs on stuff. Ok, let's move off this, cool?

Do you think Kyle has done a good job during this DC / ST hiring process ? Seems like Sorenson is a lock for ST and Staley will be penciled in as DC unless Saleh becomes available.

Are you actually going to spin this as a good situation ?

Why don't we wait to see who's hired before we proclaim anything? Also SF doesn't have to report any interviews unless they are currently employed.

Not as stressed about reported interviews as I am that all good options are gone outside of Saleh
On a real note, if no one else is available besides Staley, WTF seriously just WTF?!!

Is there any position coach on staff or on another team worth hiring or even an up n coming college DC?

I know we don't want to experiment and get away from familiarity, but F'kn Staley?! We can be royally F'kd!!
We will pick a dud Defensive Co-Ordinator and be back here next year when he is sacked again.
I'm laughing hard at this mess
Just another day in the crap decision making at 49ers headquarters.

I hope not. Crossing fingers that get this right this week. Show some faith guys.
Saleh or Eberflus, that's our only options that I'm OK with now.

For special teams it's Tabor or anyone else not named Sorensen, idc.
The "It's Brandon Staley and Nick Sorensen, we're doomed, fire Kyle" echo chamber is in full effect right now
No, don't fire Kyle, just make better decisions.

I remember reading that Wilks wasn't even the guy game planning for the Sb. It was Nick and Kyle.

I was reading the last few pages and was about to post this exact thing after reading the comment trying to give Wilks credit for the SB gameplan.
The Jaguars are also holding "second" interviews with Liam Cohen and Patrick Graham. This means that it isn't that Saleh is particularly "ahead" of anyone.

The Jaguars job is going to Liam Cohen. He's an offensive coach who has rehabbed Mayfield and thus he's a more natural fit for the Jags and Lawrence.

MM just today said they don't have to report every interview formal or informal. He stated they have spoken to others. Everyone knows Saleh is 1A.

Nick wagoner just said today they had interest in Allen if Saleh didn't come. They also know Allen has long been considered to be Johnson's guy if he took an HC job.

Like I said wait to see who's hired before you have your little dance party
Rizzi was also linked to the Bears before. Some of these guys like Allen did take other interviews.but we might not have lined up one if we knew that we weren't their 1st choice. We show interest in case our and their 1st choice don't work out.
Of course, we could be short sighted and locked onto one familiar guy..
