Is Staley a good DC? I know he was once considered good before the Chargers. Hopefully he will be because it looks like Salah will be going to the Jags.

He might be a good DC. Something not many in here have considered.
That's what I'm thinking too... It won't be the end of the world if he's our only option. He does like a 3 / 4 defense but he may change. We probably need to move away from the wide nine anyway. To many running lanes without Greenlaw and Hufanga. Brown is a disaster with sealing lanes and Huf is probably gone.

If they did miss out on Saleh then I'd like to see them give the Chiefs LB coach Brendan Daly a look at least. He's worked under Spagnuolo, Belichick and Leslie Frazier while having experience coaching DL and LBs.

He's a name I've called out in the past as well. You did a great job highlighting some of his accolades. Let me also just throw out there that he's the energetic/fiery type that I feel has been missing since Saleh/Ryans on the sidelines.

I really think the team and locker room needs this type of guy to counter balance KS. KS gives off 0 energy. Daly would be somebody good to consider.

Look I don't want Staley but at least if he was made DC I'd definitely wouldn't jump to any conclusions. Besides, it was Sornsen who called the plays last season not Staley. And one reason I don't think Staley will be the DC and you people are overreacting. Staley doesn't use the Wide 9 in his defense and that would mean moving on from Kyle Shanahan's buddy Kris Kocurek, I doubt Shanahan wants to do that.

I hope you're right. What bothers me is Kyle has only interviewed three candidates one in house in Staley the other being Saleh and the other Townsend (Rooney Rule?)
I would have thought with such a bad showing on defense last year he would have beat the bushes a little better than three people.

No way they pick Staley. Didn't they pick Sorenson over Staley last year? You can't turn around and give the job to the runner up a year later.
