Whomever, they pick, Raiders, Jaguars, Patriots, Saints, Jets, and Bears will all be hiring HCs who will bring in new DCs. There is also the Bengals looking for a DC. So the 49ers should take advantage of the fact that they have a leg up on the teams looking for HCs. This is a prime opportunity to bring in the right guy.
Maybe the right guy is still coaching in the playoffs

They will not go no experience this time I don't believe. And a lateral DC to DC doesn't make a lot of sense and probably denied interviews.

The Allen/Rizzi idea has been growing on me all day.

Would be an absolute slam dunk honestly. Get a proven DC that runs a similar sort of scheme, that's already been HC twice and isn't going anywhere for a long time along with a top tier special teams coach.

They just fired a first time coordinator in Sorensen, I don't think they're going with another first timer again, that wouldn't make any sense.

What is Allen's track record anyways? I keep seeing you guys bring up his name.

Bradley has the best resume. Brick is better than NS for sure. Anarumo has exp over Brick, who knows what he can do with a better roster

Bradley runs the same old Seattle defense that the league caught up to long ago. Guy is perpetually living in 2012.

The Saints had their best four year run defensively under him in the past 20+ years. Came in and took over a defense that had been a complete disaster under Rob Ryan and righted the ship, showed real improvement while not exactly having a loaded defense talent-wise. They had a streak of over 50 games of not allowing a hundred yard rusher as well

The only thing I'll add is they went with someone like Allen then they'd really need to upgrade to add at least one true free safety.

Damn, sounds like a good candidate. I wouldn't mind that at all with that track record, definitely a proven DC.

appreciate the info

Vikings lose and we get Flores
1. Schwartz
2. Allen
3. Bradley
4. Ulbrich
5. Lou

At 11 we can take an elite safety and our secondary has a chance to become a real strength of the team

So your saying if they hire Allen they should draft Starks in the 1st

Why would the Vikings move on from Flores?
I'm kind of starting to like the idea of Allen. He's the closest thing to a Spags we could get. He's also a secondary specialized guy who can fix the constant miscommunication issues back there, and has also coached DL.

He will never get another HC gig IMO.

The first half of his career was rather unremarkable, but he did manage three top 5-10 years with the Saints.
