Whomever, they pick, Raiders, Jaguars, Patriots, Saints, Jets, and Bears will all be hiring HCs who will bring in new DCs. There is also the Bengals looking for a DC. So the 49ers should take advantage of the fact that they have a leg up on the teams looking for HCs. This is a prime opportunity to bring in the right guy.

Would be an absolute slam dunk honestly. Get a proven DC that runs a similar sort of scheme, that's already been HC twice and isn't going anywhere for a long time along with a top tier special teams coach.

The Saints had their best four year run defensively under him in the past 20+ years. Came in and took over a defense that had been a complete disaster under Rob Ryan and righted the ship, showed real improvement while not exactly having a loaded defense talent-wise. They had a streak of over 50 games of not allowing a hundred yard rusher as well
The only thing I'll add is they went with someone like Allen then they'd really need to upgrade to add at least one true free safety.
