In the die hard fan way of doing things
Seems like Saleh is our first choice if we're already intent on giving him an offer.

We better have a really good backup plan though because Tuesday is six days away…

I agree. If he has success with the 49ers again then he'd be gone again in a couple years. Hopefully if they're intent on bringing him back then they also plan on revamping the defensive coaching staff and bringing in more promising young assistants, at least a couple that could be developed to take over for him at that time.

Not only that, but it sounds like there's another team lurking around for his services as well.

They did that with Ryans and it worked out they were kind of forced to try that again with Sorensen and it didnt work out. You just have to hope they find the right guys. I also have to think this now means Jeff Ulbrich is plan B for this year which would be hopefully a more long term hire. .

I think it is a 90% chance its Ulbrich, which I am ok with. I don't see Saleh because if he wants to be a head coach again I think he will want to prove that he can be a great DC somewhere else other than the 49ers again.

That's true

Idk if when Josina says "other interview is expected thereafter" she's talking about a second interview with the Jags or an interview with another team…

I like that we apparently have our plan A set up already (Josina is normally reliable, no?) but this plan A could easily fall through weeks later…

Ever try to recapture a romance with an old girlfriend? Usually doesn't work. I want some new blood that will bring in a new look.

Perfect time to prove himself here. This D looks in trouble. So if he comes in and gets them back to the top 10 that is a big win for him.

If Saleh comes along it'd be cool if he could snatch up Brant Boyer from the Jets who has been probably one of the three best special teams coordinators over the past decade.

The only problem with Saleh is he still wants a HC job so how long would he be here? One year? Two? They need some stability. I also would like to see a different defesne. The wide 9 is too vulanerable to a team that can run, especially when you don't have a big run stopper plugging the middle.

I mean I don't think he's getting a HC gig for a bit.

It's not so much the defensive alignment, as it is that they don't have that IDL guy that can fill up the A gap.

If not Allen I want Saleh. He's a vibe and the defensive players need that. We got a couple good CBs. They need to invest in the DL and let him cook. Jets had a damn good defense when he was there all the same. So it's not just what he did in SF
