Wrong
Applies to HC, coordinator and GM positions and you have to interview at least two minority candidates.

Is there a chance Townsend was just to fulfill the Rooney rule and the job is pretty much Saleh's as long as nobody hires him as HC?

If we hire back Saleh, then essentially we're keeping the same scheme. I wonder if Shanahan wants to switch it up from what we've been running. The Seattle version of Tampa 2.

Need a new regime that could bring in good staff

Saleh would have satisfied the Rooney rule also. My guess they brought in Townsend for that and to pick his brain.
Then a chance came up to fit a call in with Saleh. They want to consider him. I think the ESPN report is somewhat true. If the 49ers haven't hired someone and Saleh doesn't get a HC job, expect SF to make an offer. Hopefully, this frees up us Fri to bring someone in like Allen and try to hire someone before the top people get snatched up,
It would be great to not completely switch the D but bring someone in with fresh ideas that won't leave soon..

I was sort of feeling that way as well. Demeco was such a good replacement, but Shanahan talked about evolving on defense. Not sure what it means for the scheme. Some vlogger brought up an interesting point, to your point, let the new DC pick his own assistants. Don't have to force feed him Korcurek or anyone else. You essentially handcuff him that way.

Baalke will probably grant your wish. He's the front runner for Jax? And he gets Lawrence
