Would love to see Spags leave KC and go somewhere else because that weakens the Chiefs.

But if I am Spags, I just don't see anything that intrigues me more than collecting more SB rings as DC of the Chiefs.

Outside of that I hope we can get a DC who will be here for several years and be a great DC for us.

He's said multiple times that he'd love another crack at being HC.
Saying and not actually doing are different things

Why leave the most comfortable job. You got Mahomes, Jones and the refs to win the games for you.

This has probably already been brought up...

Saleh would be great to have back as DC; however, say he's hired and gets this D back to being one of the best next season and he's then one-and-done in being hired away as a HC. The Niners are once again looking for a DC.

Almost think another quality candidate that's already been a HC a couple of times, like Dennis Allen, might be a better option as the chances that person sticks around longer might be greater (hopefully a lot longer if they get this D back to dominating).
I agree in the long run I think Allen is the best candidate.

Because if you're ultra competitive then you always strive for something more.

going into his 7th season with KC, it doesn't sound like he's ultra competitive

maybe when Jones or mahomes ever leave.. he will move on

It's not like teams have been kicking down his door. These are the first interviews he's gotten in awhile. He's also 65, the clock is ticking.

He never got so much as an interview. The offer has to be there. Also almost every coordinator leaves a very secure situation for the shaky world of being a HC. These guys are competitive just like the players. Mike Holmgren left us for a team that hadn't been consistently competitive in 20 years. Mike Shanahan left us for a much older John Elway (QBs going into their 13th season back then were old).

But of course he's gonna go through the motions of trying for a head coaching job first.
