Yeah I love him but thinking the same. I bet it will be someone new fresh. Not a retread. A surprise.

I think Saleh is pretty much a lock unless he gets a HC offer. They've had someone "new and fresh" the last couple of years, how did that go for them?
With Saleh you skip a lot of that new coordinator awkwardness. You have Warner, Bosa and possibly Greenlaw who already know him and seem to like him a lot so it'll make it easier to hit the ground running. He's more experienced now and likely to add some more wrinkles to his defense and he's also someone who seems to have a good eye for LB talent which never hurts.

It's Saleh's job. Only a matter of time.

There's a lot of hope of your post. Saleh doesn't have the same caliber roster he had 5-6 years ago. I just think this is Kyle just doing what he does best: find yes men to do his bidding. He promotes Kubiak. Rehires Saleh. Might end up moving Sorenson to STs. And will keep Staley as assistant head coach. Tell me he's making changes when he's actually not really making changes….
I think we're about to witness the end of the Kyle Shanahan era in 2025…

Promoting Kubiak is not self serving. He's already said Klay's duties will be the same, the position helps to Groom Kubiak for future positions. Comes with a pay raise, allows him to speak to media, etc. He did the same thing with Mcdaniel as a recognition of good work. He's taking care of his guys, its what good coaches do.

Also, show me the top 5 defensive every year and they always have a solid d Line that stops the run. We are missing that at dt. My assumption (I know. Dangerous word) is they will address that this offseason.
If they don't address DT in this DT heavy draft class I'll join the fire Shanahan and Lynch brigade. I'll bring t-shirts, hors d'oeuvres and whatever beer I can steal out of Cisco's fridge.

I'm surprised Saleh is that desperate to be a HC again to even consider that job in JAX with the same nonsense he just came from in NY with an incompetent owner and GM.

Of course it's self serving. Yes Klay gets some fringe benefits, but this move gives Kyle sole authority over play calling and running the offense. Comeon now, let's not make this into Kyle's saintly moves to make the team better. Clearly this decision does nothing of the sort.

Newsflash : Kyle had sole authority over play calling and running the offense before he made this move and would have still had it had he not made this move or had he brought in an outsider to be the OC.

If Saleh appears like he is ready to be a coordinator for an extended period of time, I am good with it. If he wants to continue looking for head coaching jobs in the next few years I would absolutely pass on him. We need stability. Don't want to keep losing coordinators every year.
