Also Chris Tabor, long one of the best special teams coaches in football is apparently just out there, not working for anyone after being let go as Carolina's interim HC last year.

And if this is accurate, the entire Dallas staff is going to be free to interview anywhere as of today.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had McCarthy's entire staff serve on contracts that are now expiring, which means that Dallas' special teams coordinator John Fassel should be hitting the open market Tuesday.

2 candidates so far correct? He would make sense to interview.

I just feel like Allen is super dull as far as a "leader of men" goes.

Hahaha we need some crazy eyes up in here!

Didn't that guy used to be the Cowboys ST coach? I recognize his face from our playoff games against them lol

Got a little Brian Jennings's look going there.

definitely agree with this, the defense wasn't this good all year, the line is peaking at the right moment. Been very good last 4-5 games. What I'm seeing is the potential of that D line; Verse, Fiske, Turner, and Young. All drafted in last 2 years, and they are looking good.

This is what I want for SF. Hit on a DT and a DE. Let them start too.

I mean they played the Jets, Seattle and AZ prior to Minn.

folks don't realize that Minn OL overall is not good.
When they lost Christian Darrisaw that was massive. Sam was pressured at an extreme high amount all yr, he ain't that good but that OL didn't help. Tons of PA & early leads masked the deficiencies (much like SF).

LA does have a good young DL. I don't see them getting wild vs Philly though

SF needs to build up the trenches on both sides big time

Yeah, he's available now. Good ST coach imo

If they just move Nick Sorensen to STs it will be an epic failure
Dennis Allen is a hot name in this thread all the sudden but… idk if he'd be that good. Saints were never known for their defense, and their defense was really bad in 2015-2018 while he was DC. Sure they were decent or very good in 2019-2021, but then this last season they fell off a cliff.

Just be careful what you wish for. His resume is basically 3-4 pretty good years in 2019-2022 surrounded by bleh.

We'd basically be hoping he's our Spags. Except at least Spags had 18-1 on his resume (even if it was over a decade old). Allen's resume includes… multiple historic playoff wins for the Vikings

With top notch special teams coaches available like Rizzi, Fassel, and Tabor. If we don't even take a swing for these guys and settle for Sorensen what a massive letdown that will be. Yet somehow I'm already preparing myself emotionally for this.

He's a hot name but the job is going to Saleh, it's no secret. After Saleh is done with his tour of head coaching interviews, he'll be back in San Francisco. There's a ton of time to get him in the building.

It seems GB had a good defense this year but any chance he steps into a GB DC role full time? He is buddies with LaFleur. Why did they bring him in as a consultant if there was not a possibility Matt wanted a further upgrade?

If that did open up he would pick GB over 9ers to be with his best friend.
It'll be nice to have Saleh back not only for the obvious reasons but having his input on the draft and which dlinemen and lbs he likes would be huge. We just can't afford to bomb out in the draft

From what I read Lafluer loves his new DC and they did do well overall. That would be a scummy move too so I doubt it.

LaFleur is not going to get rid of Jeff Hafley, he's done a good job with that defense. And yes, Saleh would choose to stay in GB rather than go back to SF. But there's no opening in GB and I doubt he'll want to become a DC with someone he doesn't know.
