I've been saying this all long. Why haven't the 49ers interviewed him yet? The teams that are ready to hire a DC right now are 49ers, Falcons, Bengals, Colts, and Patriots. Soon there will be more teams as they hire head coaches, and competition for quality DC gets stiffer.

Maybe they already have or maybe they already have an interview lined up and we just haven't heard.

We see it every off-season, not every interview ends up getting leaked in the moment.

He is getting interviews for HC right now after just months of being fired. That means that owners are considering him a good coach that was screwed by a terrible situation in NY.

For example, owners aren't interviewing Matt Eberflus or Kevin Stefanski or Jerod Mayo for HC openings.

If he can't get a HC job now he'll get it next year ir he makes the Niners D top 10 next season.

People keep laughing at Staley but he had a Top 1 defense as Rams DC, easily the best defensive performance in the McVay era and will likely be a coordinator again somewhere next season.

Not saying that it should be with the 49ers but it's crazy how underrated he's become because he sucked as a HC.

The Rams were #1 in yards and #1 in points defensively with Staley as DC. They were never Top 10 anything under Wade Phillips or Raheem Morris.

No but it's weird how people act like he's Jim O'Neil or Greg Manusky. You know how many DC's in NFL history have called a defense that was #1 in points and yards? And the year before they weren't Top 10 in either category, nor the season after.
