Why do people think Salah is a hot commodity that will be swooped up as a HC this year, next year, or the year after? I don't get it. Would it be a sympathy hire because of the Aaron Rodgers drama? He wasn't that great of a HC let's be honest. I get that he could be a D Coordinator again and do well...then maybe get another opportunity. But I don't think he'll be one in the next 3 years

He is getting interviews for HC right now after just months of being fired. That means that owners are considering him a good coach that was screwed by a terrible situation in NY.

For example, owners aren't interviewing Matt Eberflus or Kevin Stefanski or Jerod Mayo for HC openings.

If he can't get a HC job now he'll get it next year ir he makes the Niners D top 10 next season.

Because Kyle wants yes men. He's putting all his eggs in the Saleh basket, and he probably wants to move Sorenson to ST. If Saleh gets a HC position, I can see him promoting Staley to DC and moving Sorenson to ST. And the masses here will celebrate the moves, citing 'continuity'

The mental gymnastics about that are going to be epic
hopefully the FO sets up an interview with John Fassel soon

I've been saying this all long. Why haven't the 49ers interviewed him yet? The teams that are ready to hire a DC right now are 49ers, Falcons, Bengals, Colts, and Patriots. Soon there will be more teams as they hire head coaches, and competition for quality DC gets stiffer.

Maybe they already have or maybe they already have an interview lined up and we just haven't heard.

We see it every off-season, not every interview ends up getting leaked in the moment.

49ers soc med has been up to date with the interviews..

I don't think you need to hide Ulbrich if he did interview

Good point.

But they haven't been forthcoming with interviews they have lined up which he could be scheduled.... or not. I'm just pointing out we shouldn't rely on the media leaks or what the teams SM is reporting as gospel as we have seen time and again that not everything leaks out.

I think he's well respected as a confident leader. (Kidding) If the Eagles lose soon and fire their coach he would be a natural for them and has the story ready.

I am totally out on Saleh as DC. We need to look elsewhere.

I kinda feel the same way. But the only reason why because I think he'll bounce again next season.
Reporter: "Why did you end up deciding on Brandon Staley as your defensive coordinator?"

What Shanahan will say : "In the end, we decided he was best candidate for our team based on his experience and because of continuity."

What Shanahan will mean to say : "We sat on our asses uhhmm waiting for Robert Saleh, who ended up you know uhhhmm taking a HC job. And while we waited uhhmmm, we had only interviewed Brandon initially, while the other teams snagged all the good guys."

People keep laughing at Staley but he had a Top 1 defense as Rams DC, easily the best defensive performance in the McVay era and will likely be a coordinator again somewhere next season.

The Rams were #1 in yards and #1 in points defensively with Staley as DC. They were never Top 10 anything under Wade Phillips or Raheem Morris.

Not saying that it should be with the 49ers but it's crazy how underrated he's become because he sucked as a HC.

No one knows what he was hired to do this year. What was his role? If he was to help Sorrensen, it didn't work well. He did inherit a Wade Phillips led team with a lot of talent and most of the same assistant coaches. Perhaps Shanahan is keeping him as a fall back plan to become DC.

Are you really trying to sell us Staley?

No but it's weird how people act like he's Jim O'Neil or Greg Manusky. You know how many DC's in NFL history have called a defense that was #1 in points and yards? And the year before they weren't Top 10 in either category, nor the season after.

Who have 49ers interviewed for DC? Besides Saleh and Staley? Yes, Deshea Townsend. But I believe that was to satisfy the Rooney rule. other than that it is Saleh and Staley from what I know. They have interviewed a boat load more guys for ST and OC than they have DC. Something is up.
