i think dennis allen checks 2 boxes

1 - he is unpoachable or hard to poach as a 2x failed HC
2 - he is a well respected D mind after a couple of lesser known candidates

when you consider saleh, ryans, wilks, sorenson, this is now the 5th DC in a pretty short timeframe. need more stability year over year.

I'm totally on board with Allen. I can't remember who posted it, but there was a chart ranking the defensive play callers, and the last time Allen called a DC, he was ranked #1 in the NFL. We have to be in contact with him, it'd be criminal not to be.

He's been the DC even as head coach as he calls plays like Kyle. This season they hit a rough patch but the four years prior were really impressive. The Saints haven't exactly been known for defense over the years so it's especially impressive what he was able to do, especially with the defense in a garbage state when he took it over from Rob Ryan.
Been pretty quiet on the interview front
Bearing in mind that we would only have Saleh for a year, I think I would vote for Allen. Our turnover at that role is very high over the years.

Curious how you would rank the potential candidates Phoenix

So this throws a tiny wrench in getting Robert Saleh. If Hafley were to leave the Packers...

Good point, Allen is starting to sound better and better as the better choice. Waiting here with my popcorn to see who it'll be.

If the Jets hire another defensive minded HC let alone Hafley, NJ fans will riot lol

Allen's biggest flaw was tying himself to the hip of Derek Carr not once, but twice! A monumental error, but offseasons, circumstances, availability, the draft, the GM, the owners, etc dictate alot of that. Was that decision all on him? No, but he was a part of it. If he somehow lucked into a guy like Mahomes, Allen, Lamar we might be having a different conversation about him. I do not believe the raiders or saints had the luxury of a top 5 pick to select a highly rated QB, so they went the veteran QB route that turned out to be dismal for him. I like him a lot as D Coordinator
I still dont get why we do not excercise more interviews.
Get all the external input and views from outside that you can get, maybe there is some valuable information you can get about how others see your roster and what scheme they would see as a fit.
Why not use these ressources?

So why isn't Allen been called yet for an interview ? Is Kyle so bent on hiring back his 'yes man' Saleh that he's not willing to entertain other candidates ? Are we missing something here ? Can we not interview other guys until we get a definitive answer from Saleh ?

Our turnover is always goi g to be high so long as we keep winning and have Bosa Warner and company being respectable. However, Allen is way less likely to get taken from us due to his failed coaching stints.

He really should be our first choice imo. Had a great run D and defense in general for many years. Kyle…..get on this bc if Saleh gets hired, he will take Ulbrich with him.

Think McFly Think!!!!

Hard to tell b/c Allen seems to only be a fan/forum favorite. We just can't make Kyle like who we like. Maybe they have some sort of issue none of us know about. Does seem weird that they aren't interviewing any other candidates. Extremely weird if you ask me.
