If we're going by tendencies, the situation isn't weird at all. We all know Kyle doesn't want people that will oppose him. It's one of the reasons he didn't get along with Wilks and pretty much scape goated him after the Super Bowl. I can see him basically hoping for Saleh, with backup option being Staley as DC. And probably move Sorenson to STs. It would be an epic weak move if he made those decisions if Saleh fell through, but it would cement that 2025 will be the last year for him in SF.

Saleh has worked with the Packers this season. If Hafley leaves, I'm pretty sure Saleh will be #1 on their list.

They want Saleh. They are waiting for his HC interviews. If he doesn't get the HC job, I think he comes here. Maybe they had a verbal agreement. He's Plan A. Plan B is they are still researching candidates and/or waiting for someone in the playoffs (they are not interested in Ulbrich or Allen). Plan C is probably Brandon Staley since they already interviewed him. The other scenario Plan A is Saleh and Plan B is Staley and they are not interviewing anyone else.
