The question that had nothing to do with your original response?

The question that proves that guys take interviews knowing the chance that they get hired is slim. So ya answer the question, you think he took that interview thinking he's was gonna be our OC?

today it came out that Ben Johnson knew he wasn't getting the Pats job but did the interview anyway….

The interviews themselves are good experience and networking in the league.

Your original response was "No on truly thinks he's getting a HC gig this yr" on = one. I responded Robert Saleh clearly thinks he does, so that in fact does mean someone does think he's getting a HC gig. Now with the report that hes a favorite with the Jags just furthers my point. I don't understand why you can't just admit you're wrong, probably hard for you to do so here we are in circles...

Very disappointing. To have Shanahan not do his due diligence and bring in more candidates to find the best hire. Putting all his eggs into one basket - Saleh. Most likely Staley gets it if Saleh is hired elsewhere. This is typical of Shanahan even on the field - all eggs into one basket : running one rb into the ground the entire game.

How do you know he hasn't interviewed or talk to more candidates? We all didn't know Deshea Townsend was getting interviewed or even was a candidate. There's still a few more weeks to get something done. Saleh is still doing interviews and head coaches still need to be hired. No one is in a rush except us fans.

Even if he just spoke to more candidates over the phone, one would assume more in house interviews other than his savior Saleh, and a guy who is already in house that we haven't got a clue of what he does, and a Rooney ruler. Maybe not be in a rush to hire, but there a lot more teams going to look for DCs soon and maybe already. Unless he is doing all this in secret, the evidence is there. The hire of Sorensen last year is telling.

Brandon Staley is proven, and with him that's three candidates already. You may not have a clue but Shanahan knows him well. There's still a lot more teams that need head coaches and are busy with that. Don't worry if they miss on Saleh, there's a lot more options out there and we should hear something before February, I guarantee that.

As for Sorensen, Shanahan was swinging for the fences with Bill Belichick and Steve Spagnuolo, there was one or I think two more candidates. But in the end everyone knew who he was gonna settle for.

actually he's not the favorite

Show me a HC that had a .350 winning % no playoff appearances ever that gets hired as a HC the same yr they got fired? You can't because it doesn't happen.

bob can pretend that he thinks he's got a shot. No one really thinks he's gonna be a HC this go around.

we will see what happens.

I'm sure there's back channels going one with all of it. All these dudes share agents and s**t.

I'm more worried about the ST job. There's legit candidates available and if he just moves Nick over that's a horrible look for a HC that most people think he doesn't care about STs

Yah I'm gonna be pissed if Shanahan moves Sorensen to ST. There's much more credible ST coaches out there and he settles for crap.
lol this team is such a mess

If Adam Gase can get fired and hired again to be a HC two weeks later, anything is possible.

Tbf Gase had a playoff appearance… somehow lol
I really don't get the fascination of running it back.

Good franchises look ahead, not back.

This defense needs a major rebuild not a slight retool. Its time to change the philosophy. What better time to do it when your dline is basically Bosa and Greenlaw might walk and your secondary is facing its biggest rebuild yet?

If Buckner Armstead Dee Ford DJ Jones were younger and on the team I would understand running it back with Saleh.

The better question is, where to begin?

I guess for starters, they are setting themselves up for failure with this Robert Saleh or bust strategy, and when he inevitably decides to waste his time with another head coach gig, we'll be the one to suffer when we settle for a lesser candidate, again. Unless they managed to bring in Dennis Allen, which would be a much better choice than Saleh imo.

This. "running it back" is only acceptable when you've actually won a championship.

Kyle Shanahan lives in his own little world. A world full of yes men that won't challenge his authority. That won't call him out on his mistakes. That will smile and nod, the classic rank and file type figures. Saleh Staley Sorenson fit that mold perfectly. He's not going to lead former coaches like Dennis Allen challenge him.

We better pray that Robert Saleh doesn't get a head coaching job. Sorenson as ST seems to be a lock. It's either Saleh or Staley…
