I will personally be infuriated with Kyle if that's the decision he makes. I can't take a person seriously anymore if they say they're looking at the root of everything to upgrade and then that's what they go and do.

You have to do what's best for the team. I'd rather have any of the other guys they've interviewed so far.

We badly need to bring in Fassel, Allen and Ulbrich to cover some more bases in the meantime if we haven't already.

Hoping and praying that they've been keeping it all on the down low and nothing has been leaked about the above..

Agreed, no one will defend Kyle if he makes him the ST coach. Staley was at least good at being a DC when he did it…still imo that would be a horrible hire and just moving guys around would be a failed attempt at actually improving the coaching staff imo. No fan should accept that crap.

They'll get Saleh, don't worry.

It's embarrassing if Sorenson is really the front runner.

Why, you don't know if he's not a good ST coordinator. Just cause he didn't work out as DC doesn't mean he wouldn't be good at this position. That was his specialty as a player, special teams.

Last time he was a STC

Not here to defend Sorenson but to add a touch of information and context. He does have but one season as a ST's coach but he also has 3 seasons of experience as being the assistant ST's coach.

Also the 2021 Jags ST's stats are horrible yes but let's not forget that Jags team won 3 games that year with Urban Meyer at the helm.

That said, he is not who I want in the role of STC given their are seemingly better options available.

He's not the guy who's gonna take a league worst ST unit (basically for years) and make them good imo. They need a legit vet STC who's got a proven track record.

Clean slate there. Shuffling the coordinator positions within would be a failure imo

Get used to it from the Kyle apologists. If he botches this (especially with all the great candidates available), and we end up with Staley (DC) and Sorenson (ST), you're gonna see a lot of his cheerleaders come out spinning how Staley is an awesome candidate and how the Rams had a great defense that one year. Then they'll point to all that success Sorenson had in Jacksonville that one year where they ranked bottom third in the league.

the spin will be hilarious.

how anyone can defend or want Staley is beyond me.

I don't want Staley, but he is a pretty decent to good coordinator.

And so it begins 🤣

Koldo and DrELL seeing that really no one would be cool with Staley and Nick Sorensen

Fassel is just sitting right THERE. Maybe you won't have the #1 special teams but it definitely wouldnt be bottom five anymore.
On Kawikami's podacst, Barrows says that 49ers are not interviewing other candidates for DC, in order to send a strong message to Saleh. A risky strategy imo. Hope it works out, but I'd be out there interviewing Allen and Anarumo, etc.
Barrows expects a decision to be made at DC by next week.

Honestly I find that hard to believe

Same. That would be needlessly reckless, and what message would that actually send to Saleh, that the Niners brains trust are fools?

We don't do it for recognition, we do it because it's the right thing to do.

he explains that it would suggest to Saleh about how serious they are about wanting him. It's just Barrows' opinion, it doesn't mean it's true.

Again an NFL team, owner and GM thought Staley was proven enough to coach their team. You act like they went out and hired some position coach.

And what you don't know why Sorensen was hired over Staley? For one it was for continuity, two, hiring Staley would've been a whole new makeover in scheme.

We thought tomsula and chip would be good coaches. Sometimes teams are wrong

Has Ulbrich been interviewed?
