I will be really pissed if they put all their eggs in the Saleh basket and he ups and takes a HC position or the DC position somewhere else and then Kyle proceeds to promote Staley. All this without interviewing several candidates. (I know me being pissed won't make a difference.)

And what you don't know why Sorensen was hired over Staley? For one it was for continuity, two, hiring Staley would've been a whole new makeover in scheme.

We thought tomsula and chip would be good coaches. Sometimes teams are wrong

Of course teams get things wrong, just saying it was enough for them to make a decision on.
I have this strange feeling that Baalke is gonna hire Saleh. Just seems like such a Baalke move.
I like many on here have been frustrated that the team hasn't interviewed more candidates, even if they are waiting for Saleh, but I was thinking, If Jeff Ulbrich is the fallback option, how much of an in-depth interview would either need? He was Saleh's DC, so we know he can run the scheme, with perhaps some wrinkles (the Jets blitzed more than we did, somewhere around the middle of the pack I believe). Kyle is more than familiar with Jeff from their time in Atlanta, and I'm sure Jed knows him well from his time as a player. I don't think there are many questions as to whether he'd be a culture or not. In my opinion the biggest risk would be that someone else hires him as a DC while we wait.

If Saleh is willing to deal with that, then I wish the best of luck to him, but If I were him Baalke would be radioactive.

I swear, if Baalke waits until the last second, hires Saleh just to screw with us, and then we get stuck with Staley because we didn't bother looking at anyone else, I better not see a stupid shocked Pikachu face on Kyle every week while our defense sets a record for game-winning drives allowed again

Wouldn't that familiarity also apply to Saleh?

And what would be the point in keeping interest in Ulbrich a secret?

Jags should hire B Johnson, fire Baalke & hire Spielman or another FO guy from the Lions

I'm not sure if they would be trying to keep Ulbrich a secret. My thoughts were more along the lines that perhaps they felt that there wasn't as much to familiarize themselves with, and they reached out to Saleh to see if he were receptive to coming back. All this is based on my thoughts, and is pure speculation at best, so who knows?

Nope, not going to happen.

This. Same for the Cowboys and Raiders. If Saleh goes to any of those teams, then he deserves everything coming his way.

And take Ulbrich with him. Just get Allen now and let's move forward.

I don't want to believe that Kyle would put a friendship over what's best for the team. You can't do that. As an example.. Everyone loved Jimmy T but there was no way we could keep him as HC.

Sorensen may be liked but we need the best staff possible and two of the best in the NFL are available now.

I mean let's be real. If I'm playing a game of pickup football in the 90s and I'm choosing between my best friend and Jerry Rice, only a total dumba** would not pick Jerry. If Kyle chooses Nick that would be essentially like passing on Jerry.

If Saleh tore his ACL or Achilles helping the Packers I would be with you. Baalke needs an offensive coach for Lawrence. That should be his lean.
