Yes but this season was much worse other than the fact that the Niners didn't lose the QB. It has one thing after another. The other factor is many of the core players are older.

No, the core players are injured

The core players have been mostly injured.

The way out is straightforward in terms of them needing to draft better. This season is the three first rounds picks traded for Lance as well as blowing numerous picks on guys who aren't even on the roster anymore finally catching up with them. They have to draft better, they have to go back to basics and focus on improving the interior on both sides of the line. They need to get bigger and faster overall.
Every successful team goes through this so I'm keeping Shannalynch for a retooling.

Find the best coaches we can around Shanny, can't continue inside building mentality, when building has dried up.

STARTERS I'd like to keep. Purdy, Mason, Aiyuk,Jennings, Kittle, Williams, Puni, CMC/ Demo, Mustapha, Green, Bosa, Warner Greenlaw

Depth /rotational keepers. Brown, Anderson, Givens, Collins, Sam O, Guerendo, Pearsall, Burford, Moore.

Kyle Juz=Scataboo?
Deebo= Any physically fit pro who has great hands?

Just a few of my thoughts. If Kyle can get through to Deebo and get him in football shape I'm not against trying again, he's like that amazing girl you once had who just stopped trying. You always willing to try and recapture the good times.

I'm actually optimistic about 2025. A lot of lessons to be learned here. I'd imagine we'll have much improved coaching staff, a better handle on how to not let players negotiate through training camp. Our rookies look good and will be better in 2025, and we've shown the ability to draft well post-peters.

we need to move on from players who've become ineffective as they've gotten older. Deebo and juice come to mind. We need to restructure players that haven't seen the field much like Hargrave and CMC (unsure what their specific contracts are, just using them as an example). If we can do all that and sign purdy to a team friendly deal, which I'd imagine we can, the niners will be in a good position next year. A few wildcards like Mooney and Hufunga, but they haven't been all that effective anyhow.

i didn't think 2024 was going to be this bad, but i did get the sense we were growing old and tired at the same rate across the board.
Where do we go ? Well with stubborn kyle and overpay John i fear for the worst.
This year proves to me that kyle's O is nothing with a great D.
So what i would do :
- right now play under used players like Mason Pearsall Moore… give your young players playing time
- than offseason fire DC and ST coach
- hire Saleh/Ulbrich/Schwartz… and anyone to replace Schneider
- trade/release Deebo (whatever the best move for our salary cap)
- draft / trade / sign OL TE DL LB CB QB
- let Brock play his fourth year or sign 4 year extension with min guaranteed money max 40M py with incentives
- stop overpaying players

They have to get back to focusing on being able to run the football, no matter what the defense is doing and stopping the run and putting teams into 3rd and unfavorable consistently. These last two seasons they've seemingly lost the ability to stop the run that defined their earlier success under Saleh and Ryans.
Vegas has the 49'ers favored by 3.5 over Bears at home and AZ favored 3 at home over Seattle leaving 49'ers 1 game out of first place after next week.

Seattle will lose the following week to Green Bay and we play AZ last game of season.

McCaffrey returns after 2 weeks from knee sprain.

Super Bowl!

Arik Armstead proved his value to the team by leaving. DJ Jones was also sorely missed. We have not been able to stop the run since they left. We need to get back to that type of unselfish player that uses up blockers. Anderson has flashed a bit. Let's see how he develops in these next five games.

Saying they have to draft better is one thing. Actully doing it is another. They know they need to draft well and they always feel thy'er getting playersthat can help. When was the last time you heard any coach say after the draft that he hated the players they took. Every team wants to draft well just like every team knows they have to tackle well or block better. Saying it and doing it are two different things.

Amen to this, with emphasis on we need to draft better. We have an upcoming star in Brock, who may have been playing injured for more than we know. The other injuries of LT, WR, DPOY , McCaff out half the season and injured again, 2 Kickers, a punter, the list goes on and on.

But the salient point here is the horrendous waste in the 3 yr picks we gave up for Lance. Inexperience at drafting, plus kyle being anxious to finally get a QB led to the talent give away for Lance. Ok, it's over , we paid for it dearly , and let's get on with rebuilding. ..and hopefully F.O. Learned its lesson. You NEVER pull a trade carnage like that. Kyle was in a situation where he just couldn't get the QB he wanted so he took a dive off the high board into an empty pool. And man, it still hurts. All of us , esp including kyle.

Again, referring to PHX's post, we MUST get the OLine straight. Having a really good QB just highlites the inability to protect him. And that is a big no-no. Really, take away #71 and what do we have? Yeah, not much. That should be # 1 fix. And that doesn't mean just LT. It means OT to OT. It is hard to get one stellar OL…getting 5 …or even 4…not much hope of that. But we are going to have to seek out talent at college teams not usually mentioned because we aren't going to pick up 4-5 OL thru trades or draft. We are going to have to find pearls in UDFAs, so scouts need to check all college football, not just BIG 10 or SEC.

Unfortunately, PHX is right about DL also, and 1 Bosa isn't enough. Hargrave and older guys aren't going to work. We have to cut older talent that no longer produces. Yup , another impossibility. But 2025 we need to start on both lines and keep working until we get them fixed. The cuts of favorites who no longer work out has to be done. This was Bellichek and Coach Walsh's way. We need to do it.

It would still be two due to tiebreakers. Shanahan and lynch don't want to admit that part though. We are really three back right now...
I'm hoping Shanny retools the coaching staff. His staff has been raided every year for the last 5 years and we're always on a deep playoff run so we can only hire the leftovers. He definitely needs better offensive coaches on his staff and maybe an OC in title but I'm not ready for him to give up play calling duties. Next is the oline and dline. We need to get some more physicality and nasty back in the trenches. When we're dominate we're owning the los and are the way more physical team. We haven't been that this year. I hope we can bring back Dre but either way we need another LB. FS. I think the years have just caught up to us. I don't know what the draft looks like but we need a couple impact players. But I think retooling the coaching staff with quality coaches will go a long way for this team
