49ers claim RB Israel Abanikanda off waivers

This is a solid pickup. Abanikanda was pretty much born to play in Kyle's run scheme. Nice sized back that had an absolutely monstrous final season at Pitt. Good quickness and patience when it comes to waiting for blocks, always pushing forward to gain an extra yard or two. He's someone that has a shot at actually sticking around. Pass blocking is going to be the main concern with him.
I hope he is healthy!
my abanikanda don't want none if it don't got runs son
Not bad for a waiver wire pickup. Did the Niners also sign Frank Gore Jr? That would make for a pretty good week.

Didn't they invest a good bit of time in him leading up to the draft?

Had 2 solid preseasons but didn't play well in limited regular season snaps. One-cut zone college background, great play speed. Biggest knock coming out - struggles in pass blocking. This is likely what kept him off the field in NY,

Monster in college.

Great 49ers gift ideas

His highlight game:

Had him mocked to SF during that trade…thought he was for sure going to Kyle or a team that runs his scheme.

im still blasting all my FAAB on Issac lol

yeah, IG then PT jr. Izzy has to learn the stuff. maybe he moves past PT soon.
NFL compared him to Pacheco in their draft profile.

He'll fit right in here cuz half the starters can't pass block. Hands looked really good though.
Seems Perfect for the team. Taylor is screwed, long term. Might eventually pass our rookie for the starting role.

Doesn't do any good to sign player's if you're never going to let them in the game but 1 play per quarter if they're lucky.
