No, what they are is frustratingly constantly killing themselves. They are underperforming their talent in crucial moments nearly every game.
It would be easier to watch or ignore a team losing 40-0 every week. This team is mostly losing one score games. The two road games at Packers and Bills are the exceptions, and one of those they didn't have their starting QB anyway.
Just a rough year.
So you wanna run it back? This team as currently as constructed has ran its course. There needs to be some major turnover starting with the trenches. Guys like Deebo, Juice and Hargrave need to go. They desperate need to get younger. I'm out on Kyle too tbh relying on Deebo for most of the game when he hasn't done s**t all year.
When did I say that?
I would take the cap hit and trade/release Deebo. (Would have to eat some of his salary to trade him).
I would sign the best free agent Center available.
I would draft all OT/OG and DT/EDGE.
I'd sign Purdy to about $40m/year. That's the going rate for a Top 20-15 QB, which is what he's been this year.
I'd coach him to take more of what the defense is giving him instead of always going for the deep shot. It's admirable that he wants the big play, and you don't want to coach that out of him completely, but he's gone for it too much this year.
I'd hire new coordinators for the special teams and defense.
So, no, I wouldn't "run it back".
