The question is would you take 60 million dollar Brock over 35 million dollar Darnold, IF getting Darnold meant you keep more of your core together for longer AND you keep fishing for a franchise quarterback ?
Or do you put all your eggs in Brock's basket and expect that even after losing some key guys eg Greenlaw, Ward he is good enough to get us a Super Bowl…
The whole APY is irrelevant to this, it's about structure of the deal, there's no reason why the 49ers can't keep Brock, Warner, Kittle, Jauan, plus re-sign Dre & Hufanga, and still add to the team, people need to get over this whole APY crap, it's what agents love, they do it to get more clients, brag how they got so and so X amount of money per year, when the player is never going to see that money 9/10 times.
Again it's about there structure of the deal, if the Eagles can pay 11 players $10M+ a yr, so can the 49ers, they have Hurts, Barkley, AJ, Smith, Goedert, Dickerson, Johnson, Mailata, Huff, Bradberry, & Slay all averaging $10M a yr, yet for some reason the 49ers can't?
So the 49ers can easily pay Brock, CMC, Aiyuk, Jauan, Kittle, Trent, Bosa, Warner, Dre, DMo, Hufanga, and the cap is only going to keep going up each year, hell they can afford to keep Deebo if he comes back in 2025 better than he was in 2024, while having young players, key guys on rookie deals, Pearsall, Cowing, Puni, Guerendo, Green, Mustapha, Winters, Brown, plus keep young players like Okuyaninou, Mason, Tonges, etc.... Plus the 49ers found something IMO in Evan Anderson, Jordan Elliott, Maliek Collins, Kalia Davis, Gross-Matos, plus Floyd is a good EDGE to have, 8.5 sacks isn't bad for year 1.
