Special situation? you meantwo special situations seasons, 3 if you add jimmy's year?

We still had wide open guys running around this season, so the plays are still there some of them were made as we were still able to put up numbers

If we sure up the OL and get Purdy confidence back up.. we will be back and deep in the playoffs

If you want to throw in Purdy's time in 22, I'd agree. I'm strictly talking about the offense, so none of Jimmy's years counts, lol

well i had to throw in that as i'm not sure what you mean by special situation.

because Purdy isn't an anomaly of a situation. he made the perpetual situation better

We haven't had the best collection of skill players healthy and in their prime for more than a season and half. That's what makes the situation special. It's not a comment on Purdy.

Players get older and are exposed to serious injuries too. There's no guarantee we ever have a group like that again, even if the names on the jerseys are the same for the next couple of seasons.

The question is would you take 60 million dollar Brock over 35 million dollar Darnold, IF getting Darnold meant you keep more of your core together for longer AND you keep fishing for a franchise quarterback ?

Or do you put all your eggs in Brock's basket and expect that even after losing some key guys eg Greenlaw, Ward he is good enough to get us a Super Bowl…

The whole APY is irrelevant to this, it's about structure of the deal, there's no reason why the 49ers can't keep Brock, Warner, Kittle, Jauan, plus re-sign Dre & Hufanga, and still add to the team, people need to get over this whole APY crap, it's what agents love, they do it to get more clients, brag how they got so and so X amount of money per year, when the player is never going to see that money 9/10 times.

Again it's about there structure of the deal, if the Eagles can pay 11 players $10M+ a yr, so can the 49ers, they have Hurts, Barkley, AJ, Smith, Goedert, Dickerson, Johnson, Mailata, Huff, Bradberry, & Slay all averaging $10M a yr, yet for some reason the 49ers can't?

So the 49ers can easily pay Brock, CMC, Aiyuk, Jauan, Kittle, Trent, Bosa, Warner, Dre, DMo, Hufanga, and the cap is only going to keep going up each year, hell they can afford to keep Deebo if he comes back in 2025 better than he was in 2024, while having young players, key guys on rookie deals, Pearsall, Cowing, Puni, Guerendo, Green, Mustapha, Winters, Brown, plus keep young players like Okuyaninou, Mason, Tonges, etc.... Plus the 49ers found something IMO in Evan Anderson, Jordan Elliott, Maliek Collins, Kalia Davis, Gross-Matos, plus Floyd is a good EDGE to have, 8.5 sacks isn't bad for year 1.

This isnt a win now team anymore.
Give me Brock for 60. I know what Darnold is. Brock can still improve and if he can tone down the picks hes just fine. Does it hurt to pay 60 ? You bet. But I'll be damned if I pay Sam Darnold 35. We've seen him in this offense scared and unsure what to do. We've seen that Kyle clearly preferred Brock and it wasnt even close.

I dont trust Darnold. I dont trust QBs who constantly have brain aneurisms when they dont see what they expect. Brock only has this against the Vikings and maybe Chiefs (although SB was fine more or less).
the NFL is a what have you done for me lately league.

"WHO ARE YOU REALLY SAM DARNOLD?"

While I see what you're getting at, the reality is that JE in his era was legit far superior to that of Son of Sam. Hell...even after SF ended his career in the NFCCG, he was still a better player than what Sam really is.

Having said that...I'm still enjoying this thread nonetheless.

Yes so true

Purdy is just another game manager anyway.

Without "Elite" help, Purdy can't get it done himsellf. We saw that this season.

Marino couldn't get it done by himself.

Purdy is limited but has shown he can step up in tight spots.

There's people that want to give Sam Darnold 35 millions a year?^^
Also there's some people that think that Purdy is just a game manager?
If that was the case, they would never have made that comeback against the Lions in the NFCCG.

Would you pay $50M for Dirty Purdy or $35M for Darnold?
Just goes to show you don't get caught up in the hype of certain players and teams. It happens every year. Hell even Case Keenum won the Vikes a couple playoff games during his little hot year. How many times do we need to watch this scenario unfold. People crowned Darnold in week 2 after they beat us. Brock had a bit of a down year, but hes got that dawg in him and actually came through in some playoff games. Darnold hasn't done sh*t and all of a sudden he's better than Brock. Get outta here
