I love the two sides approach you guys take. You have half the guys saying Darnold is s**t and not worth the headache. The other half says he's too good and will command more than 40 million per.

If he was having a monster game, the latter would be out trashing this thread with claims of Darnold being too good as a stop gap bc he's going to demand 50mil per year.

But he's having a s**t game, so the first group is out saying he was always trash.

the reality: you're watching the essence of a stop gap quarterback. Someone that can play, but needs a LOT of help to accomplish anything. In the meantime you look for your future franchise quarterback through the draft.

this is only an option, as Larry Krueger pointed out, if Brock's contract demands are ludicrous. But something tells me you guys are ok with paying Brock 60-65 mil per year

You literally said in the playoff thread before the playoffs began that you're rooting for BOTH your boy Darnold and for "the true class of the NFC West" Rams.

And you're talking about "two sides approach you guys take?"

Purdy, no brainer. The number doesn't matter to me at all.
Lol I'm an OG Darnold hater since posters here were likening him to Steve Young. He actually was better than I thought this year, so give him props but as others stated he's a stop gap and putting him over Brock was just dumb.

His receivers were locked up. He had no chance with that OL, they were punked. He doesn't run so he was a sitting duck back there.

The number doesn't matter what does is getting his playmakers and left tackle back.

Just goes to show you don't get caught up in the hype of certain players and teams. It happens every year. Hell even Case Keenum won the Vikes a couple playoff games during his little hot year. How many times do we need to watch this scenario unfold. People crowned Darnold in week 2 after they beat us. Brock had a bit of a down year, but hes got that dawg in him and actually came through in some playoff games. Darnold hasn't done sh*t and all of a sudden he's better than Brock. Get outta here

It's just so tiring, man. Brock already has four playoff wins and a 100+ career passer rating but he has to jump through hoops, stars and galaxies before people finally believe in him. Meanwhile QB's like Stroud and Lawrence are already getting hailed as the next Brady/Manning and Darnold finally has ONE decent season on his 25th team and people were lightning quick to say they're all better than Brock.

Draft slot bias is real. Even within our own fanbase

Those receivers (that includes arguably the best player in football) and that OL that helped him finally have a decent season? That one?

Oh my goodness no. You all can't seriously suddenly be making these kinds of excuses for Darnold lol

He should have tucked and ran and got first downs, but his OL was too busy whiffing on blocks. He had three choices; either suck it up and take a sack, force a throw to a covered receiver or run. He had no chance. It was just one game; it was what it was. What so hard to wrap your head around about it?

You give 50 millions to Purdy before his agent tells him that another team is willing to give him 55.

lol this.

If Purdy is seriously willing to take $50M your reaction if you're the front office should be "for how many years? Let's sign this thing right now!" because right now, that's a bargain. He'll probably get $60M minimum unless he's willing to do us a favor.

I guess in 5 years you'll be saying $100 mil is a bargain.
The fact that this thread was ever created is the funniest part of all of it.
No one truthfully thought Sam was a good long-term starting QB and if you did you had some ulterior motive based on some dumb biased take.

Anyone who actually watched the Vikings this year saw how it went down. They were near the top of the league in all kind of offensive metrics based off their first 15-20 snaps. After that s**t fell off a cliff. heavily based on play-action and staying ahead of the chains. KOC is very similar to Kyle in play-calling and getting the most out of their QB. Sam was doing his best Jimmy imitation this yr.

hopefully this season helps SF land a higher comp pick then what we thought we were gonna get.

Brock > Sam
