No it's because not all teams have the market like LA and NY. Do you want to see the cowboys in the superbowl every year?

Dirty Purdy is my choice.

Stars shining bright. You doing ok?

IIRC it was proposed a couple months ago that the NFL have a separate salary cap for the QB position. I have no idea if that will fix the issue or not. It might lessen the gap between, say, a team that has Mahomes and a team that has another franchise QB, but it will likely widen the gap between a team that has a franchise QB and one that doesn't.

That gap will exist regardless. Can't mitigate that.

A separate number for QBs will only kick the can down the road. It would loosen things up for a few years but teams would soon use up the money on other star players.

Oddly enough I think what would fix it, is getting rid of the cap. Maybe a system like MLB?

MLB is garbage. What about four teams have a legitimate chance of winning annually because of no salary cap.

Actually, to my surprise when I learned it. MLB has had more variety in champions than the NFL since 2000.

Exactly. But if you want to be jerry jones and field a 400million roster you will be paying the league hefty luxury taxes. Its a cap, but on the owners, not the players. This cap imo works in the owners favor and limits the players.

True but at least they'll be able to keep more of the supporting cast.

Which is a good thing. If you draft and develop star players you should have the opportunity to keep them as much as possible.

My point is that you would wind up with two caps. Both would get maxed out just as they are now.

On one level, I like it because it would be fun to see billionaires fighting to be the first to pay a QB $100 million/year, then $150M, and on and on. In the end, Elon Musk would own the league and all the teams.
it was NEVER a debate.

it's more fun to have all positions under the same cap and still see it

Should be only one cap and have the best budgeter win
