Well looks like with this signing its bye bye Jake Brendel. Why hasn't this guy signed with anyone?
Wanted him during the draft, he's dealt with a bunch of injuries
You were right. 49ers management does invest in the OL Welcome...Brendel's replacement in 2026.

I hope he works out but I doubt he solves all their problems. Even if he becomes the starting center he's obviously got some issues. He was dropped by a couple teams so there must be a reason.

I would love for someone to post or compare his PFF numbers to Brendel's. From what I read his main issues has been staying healthy because of knee problems. I won't hold my breath with this signing, but I really do hope he surprises us!!!

This is the store the 49ers shop in when looking for players on the OL.

Depends if you value run blocking or pass protection seems to me neither are good options.
This is the typical approach to resourcing the OL. We dont need quality talent, just pull someone off the pile. Forester will coach them up.

In the past they have signed a couple of free agent centers that were very good but near the end of their career. They managed to get a couple seasons out of them.

I'm glad they did something in case they find someone worth keeping like Bartch last year.
The scary part is if Hennessy and Heck are the main fix of low cost bodies for next year plus maybe another OL in the 3rd. We better wake up and still focus on OL high in the draft.

Definitely an upgrade at C but the injury history. Damn. Just draft the best OT in the 1st and a C in the 3rd please. We won't have this high of a draft pick in many many years

I think we need to go DT with the 1st pick. Or Edge. And this is not a good draft for OT's.

For me personally, I think it's best to wait how the draft board falls and not pigeon hole ourselves into thinking we need to target a specific position with the first pick. And we also don't know what the roster will look like post FA which could alter the draft thought process.

Since referees allow holding in the playoffs, like no other, that diminishes the importance of a pass rush and gives an advantage to the O line, so I would rather draft OL to protect Purdy than a better pass rush. Our coverage is pretty good on the backend as well.
Quality passes are usually available in Free Agency, whereas good offensive lineman are rarely available. So we have to prioritize OL in this draft, in my opinion.

There are 2-3 good OT's in the draft (top 10-15 worthy) so I believe one will fall
