This. I think the Lions have gotten unreasonably cocky so quickly that they give me that Cheifs vibe. Would rather seem them get bounced early. Vikings would be an underdog and the Bills with Allen just would be a good story for a city that has suffered. Detroit has as well but I really don't like their "Feel" after one good season in like 50 years. They strike me like the Seahawks when they went from nothing and then everyone jumped on the wagon and living in the Northwest at the time it was intolerable.
One of my favorite things to do was ask people in a Seahawks Jersey to name ANY starting QB for the Hawks before Russel Wilson. Only about 1 in 10 could do so.

Yeah, who cares - it's going to end up being Mahomes, again.

My general default is to root for the team whose fan base has suffered the longest without a title, except 49er rivals. And I get to define those rivals and how relevant they currently are.
So, here's my preference order for the 14 teams this year:
1. Detroit Lions (Last title: 1957)
2. Buffalo Bills (Last title: 1965 (AFL))
5. Washington Commanders (Last title: 1991)
6. Houston Texans (No titles; first season: 2002)
10. Baltimore Ravens (Last title: 2012) - I'd rather the Steelers get #7 than see the Ravens win another one. The SB XLVII hate still churns.
12. Philadelphia Eagles (Last title: 2017) - Another flip, simply because this team is so punchable, the 2022 NFC CG still ticks me off, and the Bucs post-Brady are far less bothersome.
13. Los Angeles Rams (Last title: 2021) - Division rival, recent champion, undeserving milquetoast fanbase - what is there to root for here?
14. Kansas City Chiefs (Last title: 2023) - Irritating in every conceivable way.

My #s 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, and 11 eliminated.
Here's hoping more of my lower rankings get knocked out this weekend. Go Lions, Bills, Texans. Screw you Eagles vs. Rams game.
