$6.7M for a pass blocking TE is… fine. Not great, not terrible. Just fine.

This feels more like a Day 5 FA signing than a Day 1 signing, though.

And on day 5 we will sign Joey Bosa, Grady Jarrett, Andre Cisco and Asante Samuel.

Edit: Grady Jarrett just signed with the Bears

You're not guaranteed guys in the draft. People have talked for years how the NFL does things backwards. Should have the draft first then teams can fill in holes AFTER.

Of course the players union will not go for that.

You defend anything? Nobody even heard of this guy including you and now you are selling it. Lol

There is literally nothing in my post "defending" anything but the simple fact that you're not guaranteed who you want in the draft that includes 31 other teams.

Also don't tell me who or what I know. If you want to speak for yourself, have at it.
Seems like a Celek type signing.

He's a dead ringer for the TE they tried to sign from Detroit last offseason. Excellent blocker with reliable hands that can slot in as the #2 TE. Deal is probably incentive laden as hell.

Exactly, let's see the actual numbers.

Love this signing. Good blocker who can learn under Kittle
CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
I am 100 percent baffled??? Jake Tonges was signed to a futures contract and he is a stud blocker / Brayden Willis is the TE/HB and he is signed . Baffling to me he got so much guaranteed money when IMO no improvement over Tonges

Tonges has done what in the NFL? If they're signing Farrell then they clearly are trying to fill up an existing weakness. This is the second offseason in a row that they've pursued this kind of TE in FA.

Clearly signed for his blocking but nobody gives $11 mil guaranteed to a guy who...well isn't guaranteed a roster spot.

This is a good upgrade from Charlie Woerner, whom the 49ers missed a lot this past season. He will free Kittle from the extra grind of blocking so much. Farrell was the #2 ranked Pblk last season.

This isn't sexy, but George says, "Thank you."

We gonna start running more 12 personnel? Juices days numbered?

DJ jones, Garrett gone 9ers need to be more swift we can't bank on Johnathan Allen coming here. Meanwhile we're putting focus on a backup TE not upset by the signing but we have massive holes at DT,C,G,S and potentially LB if Greenlaw leaves. I probably would have rather allocated that salary to those positions

You know that from watching him play 34 total PP and Rblk snaps last season?
They really paid that much for a blocking TE? Lmao
Remember this from last offseason? Farrell and Wright are pretty much carbon copies of one another.

The draft is loaded at DT, the last thing I'd want to see is them paying big money to an injury prone defensive tackle in free agency.
