Seems like it would be very effective.

you have to have two TE's to pull it off.

Yes, I wanted them to go after a Center. Dalman went for 3 years 42 mil which is something we could've easily done and not even close to 20 mil per year.

15 million a year for a subpar pass blocking center. Meh. Just take Drew Kendall in the 4th round, pretty much the same guy as Dalman was coming out of college. They even have the same first name.

I think hes a good pass blocking center. He did well when they played the best defensive front that destroyed KC in the Super Bowl(They beat em with Cousins). Hes also young at 26 years old so he can improve as well. Hes already a great run blocker too. I rather the 49ers have a veteran at the center position to protect someone who they're about to throw a lot of money at, especially for just 14mil per year. They could then use the Draft to mainly address the Dline and other positions, but looking at how FA has gone I think they're going to go the money saving route and use the Draft to replace and get younger.
Feels like a reach to me. The first signing needed to be Greenlaw
Does anyone think there's a possibility they actually have it in mind for him to replace Juice? Seems a lot for a backup TE.

It is.

Dre just signed with the Broncos. The deal is for three years at 35 million total ( 11.6 average).

Ya that's a tough one for us. It's very possible he might not be the same anymore, giving him a 3 year deal has some risk. Broncos really going all or nothing. They signed two of our injured players to nice contracts.
Lynch let Woerner walk for 12M over 3 and a year later signs another blocking TE for 20M over 3.

Not a great strategy,

Fair point but did he even give anyone a chance?

seems like TE2/3 got a handful of attempts all year.

Not a great strategy,

So Woerner, who was an average/above average at times, blocking TE got 3 mil less, compared to a guy who's been a top 3-5 RB/PB TE for the past several years...Also, Luke's contract is 11 mil guaranteed. So it's just slightly more money, for an actual elite blocking TE.

With that said, I still don't like that signing. Giving a blocking TE more than 2-3 million is dumb, unless you just have that few holes on your team where it makes sense to dish out good money.

20 Mill for a blocking TE, but no actual OLine improvement. Gonna end up having kittle block more while this guy runs routes

Shanny/Lynch tenure special

If Law and Huf stay healthy, we might see them in the SB... would be cool if 49ers vs Broncos
This was our big hitter of FA. I mean wow.

Sounds like cast member off SNL?
