Two college QBs in the last 7 or 8 years, I though, "this guy is a can't miss"...Joe Burrow and...ahem...Mac Jones. Never said I was a quarterback guru.

I'm not excited about his signing but I went back and looked at his combine. His QB rating coming out of college would have been at the top of this year's crop. Right there with Cam Ward. Thaty doesn't mean much but he's as a backup he's probably fine.

We had this discussion in 2021 already.

The consensus was basically "yes he had amazing stats. He also got to play with arguably the GOAT college team." Two of his WR's, two of his linemen and his RB got drafted in the top 40 of that draft, as well. And that's just the offense, plus nevermind that he had the GOAT college head coach.

Mac Jones is basically what Brock Purdy haters think Purdy is. Except there's actual tangible evidence when discussing it with Mac Jones.

They aren't signing him to be the starter. How often do we see the backup QB unless the starter gets hurt. With what QBs get paid no team can afford a great backup like Steve Young. My guess is many fans don't even know who the backup is on their own team.

If mac jones was signed to be our starter or brought in as potentially being the FQB - I'd be throwing a tantrum.

as a back up for cheap? I'm happy with that. Especially a vet player who can potentially win us a couple games in a pinch, If Brock is injured.
