Have a feeling we're going to play hardball with Purdy now. Can see this dragging on for a long time.

Maybe, but I doubt he wants Mac Jones to step on the field to be able to show what he can do under Shanahan.

What's funny is I don't have a problem with the signing in and of itself at all, either. I'm just not liking that old narratives are being brought back up lol. Something like 2/3 of the fanbase was loudly and vehemently against drafting this guy in 2021 (myself included—I firmly believed he was a decent pick at #12 and an abysmal pick at #3, that simple) and at the end of the day, no QB available at pick #2 let alone #3 overall was even close to worth what we gave up.

What's crazy is, after the 2021 season, people were ready to crown Mac as the consensus best QB in that draft. I'm not joking. He had the best rookie season by far (even better than Lawrence) and people were talking about how the Patriots dynasty was possibly going to get extended. That went out the window so fast. This league is brutal.

Oh man the "I told you so" guys sure were loud after that season. Wonder where they all went.

Not defending them but technically he's probably #2 in that draft. You can argue Fields is better but Fields has yet to have a better season and is only perceived as being better bc he can run fast.

Trevor has yet to live up to his hype yet.
is this april fools joke?

but ok i think he'll do okay as a backup

How is your opinion considered a fact?

Mac Jones gonna be upset when we bring in Kirk Cousins to be the actual back up QB here

Let's hope this doesn't turn into a Joe/Steve relationship.

You are seriously comparing our current QBs to Joe and Steve?

This is more like a redux of Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert.

Fields was my guy too but let's not pretend he would've been worth the trade up either. If anything there's a chance we get stuck with him longer than we were stuck with Trey.

The real issue was the trade-up itself. I was really excited when we made the trade but it was a colossally bad move in hindsight. Trevor was the only QB worth anything remotely close to what we gave up.

Turns out none of them were worth it or worth taking in the 1st rd.

I have no issues moving up for a QB. They had to move off Jimmy….I have issue with them not moving up to 1 & not knowing who they wanted…also having to settle with whomever was there at 3. The process was weird, especially during a covid yr.

Dumb and dumber free agency move. Why? i am not a fan of this move.

There's not much to dislike. He's coming in as a #2. Still has untapped potential. Kyle is obviously very keen and will give him plenty of attention. He's nowhere near good enough to challenge Purdy for the top spot (which is a good thing). The money looks right.

Only negative I can think of is locker room fit, personality stuff. But I'm not overly concerned.

Others have said it.. he just rubs the wrong way and he is a reject. I don't like his lack of mobility. Just don't like the dude period.
