Mac is a solid pickup. He probably can compete just as much as Brock too.
Mac led Alabama to a championship and Patriots to first year playoff berth. He plays well on good teams and poorly on bad teams.
If I am Brock, I am a bit nervous.

Maybe we need some dirty players. Better than the scrubs that sat out games last year like wusses.

Straight up, he has some talent....but I absolutely can not stand the dude.... he is Cancer.
If I had a Time Machine and power over the 49ers draft...if my only choice was Trey (knowing Trey sucks) or Mac....I take Trey 10 out of 10 times.
I would much rather root for a dude with a good attitude. Mac is a pouty little man child.
If Mac could grow up and find Jesus....he has enough talent to turn his career around...I just don't want to have to watch it.
why do you care so much? you're tuning in to watch football. not getting to know somebody
you aren't ever going to see him. (hopefully). so who gives a f**k.

Is there even a slight chance Mac is more talented and overall better than Brock?

We don't need competition for moody. He just needs to be cut.

I couldn't stand T.O. but I sure loved watching him play and his production.

Agree with this. We all hated Seattle Sherman, but he was the most loved 9er in SF.

TO never played dirty or anything like that. TO always gave 100% on the football field. Sure on the sidelines or in the locker room he might have been a troublestarter and a diva, but I never saw a play on the field by TO where Id say "man that was dirty".
Can't say the same for, for example, Fred Warner. And Warner is universally loved. But there were definitely some plays where I was like, man that is kinda of a dirty play by Fred
Bottom line is, who cares ? It's sports and you gonna have guys with different personalities and different ways to approach the game. As long as they dont undermine the team, whatever. This team had Bill Romanowski who was the ultimate a$$hat.
On a final note, I think this signing of a backup qb gets way too much attention. I know why, but still.
