Seems like you are new here, but we have threads on basically ever 49er player.
Our special teams bout to average 30 points per game!
Not that he's an old tool, but I think I'll just nickname him O'Tool

More in shape/tougher than Pepper, looks like an extra Bruce Willis kills in Diehard movies

He is not doing the Pepper Dad Bod look at least. Try to find a rookie after the draft to maybe compete and get younger.

It is starting to look like the front office believes Special teams was our only problem.
The new Brian Jennings!
I love people playing "I thought we were trying to get younger"

It's the Long Snapper people...if you're concerned about the speed of your long snapper then we have bigger issues than people think.

Dude has been in the NFL snapping for 14 years. Clearly he knows what he's doing. That's not a position that many mistakes keep you around.

I think people underestimate the relationships long snappers have with their kickers and punters / holders, along with the broader FG and Punt units.

It's clear that Jon Weeks is very well respected in the NFL - durable, smart, personable, and reliable. During his time with the Texans, he's gone thru 7 head coaches and 6 special teams coordinators. And he still stuck around with the Texans for 15 years.

If you want to do a full unit and culture reset on ST, then changes like this do happen. Just like when you have new leadership at your job, there tends to be staffing changes that follow.

It's clear something was way off with the special teams unit in '24. Folks usually try to point the finger at one person, but it's a collection of multiple factors - coaching, personnel, execution, injuries, etc.

I wish nothing but the best for Taylor Pepper. Seems like a good dude and contributed to many successful 49er seasons. He still has plenty of football left, so I hope he catches on to a team and does well.

Those are good points, especially the bold.

The 49ers invested a lot in Jake Moody, and we know the rest of the story. It may just well be that a change of environment is the plan to get Moody back to the quality of NFL kicker the FO projected him to be. We won't know the answer to the question until later, but I applaud the concept of changing the setting to help a valuable asset contribute as expected.
Maybe he'll know how to position the ball so Moody doesn't freaking miss. He'll be like Moody will shank it to right, better reposition this before he kicks it.

14-year vet on a one-year deal doesn't exude relationship building. A younger guy or UDFA would seem to work for building a relationship. I am just not sure what we gained here one vet for another and who knows if it saved any cap space. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.
