Don't think we are a dumpster fire, might be best to rip the bandaid off like they did but I'd be pleasantly surprised if we have a winning season. It can happen though I'll never forget 2011 same roster that sucked ass for years turned into a historical juggernaut

Okay, let's go there. With no other additions, which starters should be backups? On offense, I'll give you Brendel and Bartch. Everyone else is proven or you can justify them starting (Pearsall).

On defense is where it gets more murky. Definitely half the defense are backups, but that doesn't nearly equate to half the team. Also relative to the rest of the NFC West, outside of the Rams, who are you ranking above the 49ers?

With coaching improvement alone, this team wins 8. With a good draft, they win 10.

We have really clear holes on defense and Oline that shouldn't be hard to fill given that we have 11 picks and the strength of the draft is Dline. Only thr 49ers can get in their own way for a quick turnaround.

Are there questions about CMC? It looked like he was getting back in the groove after the achilles situation in that Buffalo game. The injury he suffered in that was completely different and one he's over already. Of course it could be fluff but by all accounts he's back to 100%.

Purdy just getting more time to work on chemistry with Pearsall and Cowing is huge, as is them getting more accustomed to the offense. I think both guys offer some really good things to the offense. Should be even deeper once Aiyuk comes back.

Biggest thing for me are the coaching improvements on defense/STs. I think Saleh and Boyer can do more with less and it's not a guarantee they will be working with less when the season starts. Greenlaw is the biggest loss on defense and he played 2 games last season. Don't want to diminish his loss but if we're talking about improving on last season Dre didn't have much of a role in it.

I would say

Brendel
Jordan Elliott
Evan Anderson
YGM
Ji'Ayir Brown

I wouldn't put Bartch in there right now because he looked really good playing for Banks last year. Tre Brown also hasn't played for us so hard to claim he can't start either.

We also don't quite know what Evan Anderson is, he very well could turn into a solid starter at DT. Brown could also turn things around. He looked like a good starter as a rookie.

I think CMC is done, doubt he will ever be the same player. He has been severely over used and probably doesn't have much tread left on the tires.

I hope I'm wrong, but we will see.
I like our starters for about 7 wins

I would like to see him spelled much more often.

I like how the Lions manage the backfield.

I'd throw in Givens, Burford, and Winters in there. Then if you consider our depth again we still have a draft and might sign some FAs after but I'm not optimistic about this season. Think we'll be solid but I've checkout of thinking we're in contention

Nah he has a few good yrs left he just needs to be healthy. It sucks cause even though he is always hurt no one can deny the passion and how hard he plays
I don't understand all the doom and gloom about the current state of our team—it's been blown way out of proportion.

There is a reason why Vegas still has the Niners favored to win the West and at the sixth best odds in the NFL to win the Super Bowl.

Yes, there are holes but a lot of the transactions this offseason were to trim the fat. The only move I disagreed with was Greenlaw and he turned down a better offer from SF to do his thing in Denver. Even then, who knows how healthy Greenlaw will stay; he plays violent and has stacked several injuries during his career.

That said, this draft is arguably the most pivotal in team history. They need to nab d-line day 1 and o-line, WR, linebacker, corner, and safety on days 2 and 3.

Now, yes those are a lot of position groups of need; however, rememember:
  • Even though we need a LB...we have Fred Warner
  • Even though we need safety, we have a Mustaphan in Year 2 who is poised to be a monster.
  • Even though we need CB depth, I really love of D'mo and Green as starters.
  • Even though we need o-line, we do have Trent Williams and Puni to help ease the burden.
  • Even though we need edge and d-tackle, we have Bosa to bookend and, honestly, I've always loved Givens and think he can make a bigger splash with more playing time
  • Even though we need a true no. 1 receiver; we have a wildly underrated Jauan Jennings; an All Pro pass catching tight end; a running back who is a very talented wide receiver; and if Pearsall makes significant strides as many can in year 2 at wideout (and lives up to a first-round pedigree), the need becomes far less dire.

Furthermore, the lack of Deebo will force Shanahan to go back to his creative ways...which is a good thing for this team. He got complacent and horribly predictable/pitiful last season.

I am still very confident in this team. Don't know that I've ever been this excited for a draft. I think they're going to be very active in moving around the board; and don't discount packaging picks to trade for a vet at one of the positions of need above.

Yes, this would be ideal

Vegas had us winning our division last year too, and we finished last. I know injuries were a part of that but as of right now we are significantly less talented than last years pre-draft team. I think with our easy schedule this year we will finish with a decent record, but we won't match up well against any of the top teams yet.

A good draft this year and next year will set us up to be one of the "beast-teams" again for the 2027 season. I just hope Kyle lets the newbie's play and get some experience.
