Oh man, that was a really fun trip down memory lane!!!

I really appreciate the work on this one.

It kind of helps set the stage for the next off season which should be pretty conservative after we pay Deebo and Bosa.

Yeah, real fun trip down memory lane, and no worries, I love doing this.

And yeah, I expect them to be more conservative going forward, maybe 1 splash signing, but Deebo & Bosa's deals will be HUGE.
well i guess i have more NC counter post coming in the future

Gotta stay "competitive."

And all in good fun Lol, (This for both NC & Faithful BTW)

Always!

Great post AB81! AB81

I love how you point out the 49ers are aggressive in signing their free *own* free agents, and I agree the past two drafts have been (in both our opinions) very strong. Michell and the defensive backfield from 2021 were plus the new edge rusher we have opposite to Bosa!

NC always has pretty insightful comments! Love his injury thread!

Can't agree more my friend on NC's thread, and thanks, means a lot, much appreciated, trying to do new content on a daily basis, and yeah, they're aggressive in re-signing their own, and I agree 2021 & 2022 drafts look promising, hoping Kinlaw comes through so 2020 looks the same with him, Aiyuk, & JJ.

Next project is the next level.

Contract breakdowns compared to the pool of peers of like-talent signed that same year so we can see where Paraag wins these contracts (e.g. GTD $, creativity with attendance and workout bonuses and others, annual rip cords, etc.).

I think it would be cool for fans to see how Paraag rolls and how that mindset plays into WHO they target in free agency or right here at home with our own.

Lol, yeah, I could come up with something over the weekend, this took me 2 hours of research, and another hour to write it how I wanted it lol.

I think Paraag & the 49ers in general go with guys they have a good relationship with their agent(s), like we have a great relationship with Drew Rosenhaus, that was Gore's agent, I know we had a hard time with Alex Smith's agent, Tom Condon, he was tough to negotiate, thank god rookie deals are set, no more $75M for a Sam Bradford lol, Imagine if Baker got that as #1 pick with no rookie scale.
if we changed the thread title number, would we instantly have more cap?

Check the Rams thread. Lots of people think that is how it works.

That's another great point! I hadn't thought about the agent angle. This is why you're the man. Obviously, you don't have to do this but just giving you ideas on topics to write about if you'd like.

It's well known that certain agents and GMs don't get along well. Not surprising since they are in adversarial roles. Most people prefer to deal with someone they like when possible but they don't always have a choice. I've heard that teams sometimes will pass on a draft pick or free agent if the agent is a known hard ass.
FYI, UDFA terms were passed along to me for all 14.

RB Jordan Mason: $10K signing bonus, $30K base GTD
WR Tay Martin: $8,500 signing bonus, $45K base GTD
WR Taysir Mack: $0 GTD
TE Garrett Walston: $5K signing bonus
C Dohnovan West: $15K signing bonus, $100K base GTD
C Jason Poe: $10K signing bonus, $65K base GTD
LT Sam Schlueter: $5K signing bonus, $45K base GTD
DT Kevin Atkins: $5K signing bonus, $10K base GTD
WLB Jeremiah Gemmel: $20K signing bonus, $70K base GTD
WLB Segun Olubi: $3K signing bonus
SLB Marcelino McCrary-Ball: $20K signing bonus, $100K base GTD
CB Qwuantrezz Knight: $6K signing bonus, $25K base GTD
FS Tayler Hawkins: $10K signing bonus, $50K base GTD
SS Leon O'Neal Jr.: $10K signing bonus, $50K base GTD

So in total they gave out $127,500 in signing bonuses, & $590K in base salary guarantees for their UDFA class, so $717,500 in total guarantees.

Updated cap space: $433,784 without draft picks signed, ($170,335) if they were to sign all of their picks, i.e. they'd be over the cap, so they wouldn't be able to sign all 9, they can sign the majority of the 9 picks.

Updated 2023 cap room: $21,407,494 with 44 players signed.

AB should get paid for this. And if he does, he needs a raise.

I appreciate the comment, but I don't get paid for this, but all is good, I'm good with the way it is right now.
