I expect us to save most the extra cap space as roll over to pay for Bosa next year.

I don't think they need it. Cap is going up again next year and they are already slated to be around 15mil under . Don't quote me on that lol

And we have a bunch of dead money coming off the books, are we still going to be $52 million under next year?

I expect them to carryover as much as possible into 2024, mainly due to 2024 being like 2022 where we were/will be over the cap by the time March 2024 comes, also Bosa wise, I predict his cap number in 2023 will be around $8M, and $12M in 2024, then balloons in 2025-2028(yes I predict a 5yr extension).

I thought your site has them at like 13-15mil in cap space after Bosa in 24?

No, they're over a projected $256M cap right now, will be, but nothing to worry about, I liken it to 2022 when we were $20M+ over, redid AA & Kittle, still kept Al-Shaair on the 2nd rd RFA tender, & signed Mooney Ward, so next year redo Deebo, extend Ward, AA, Dre saves over $43M for those 4, tender Jauan the 2nd rd tender RFA level, sign another splashy FA, rinse & repeat, they'll be just fine in 2024 and beyond.

Gotcha. Think this is where I got hung up

So, no matter if Bosa counts $12 million to $14 million in 2024, the 49ers will have around $11 million-$13 million in cap room to spend in free agency, plus the fact that Brandon Aiyuk will get extended in the Summer of 2024, allowing them to have cap room going into the 2024 season, just like an extension of Nick Bosa will allow the team to have cap room heading into the 2023 season.

Doh, I forgot Poe, how could I.

Seriously, I want Poe on the 53, hope Zakelj can be that Swing Tackle/Guard, and Poe makes it as a backup IOL.

Foerster already confirmed Zakelj isn't a T...like Burford, he only sees them as inside OL. In fact, Z is already taking C snaps too.

Nothing on Poe all off season. Kind of odd.

Imagine so. Tackle and Corner are also things they can consider for right price.

Probably a lot of guys who will sign around TC.

Who's out there at CB? At least the entire secondary minus Ambry Thomas is getting good press thus far and we have a DC who's a secondary specialist now. But I'm always down for adding more talent there.

I'm bummed we didn't snag Cameron Fleming or Isaiah Wynn. They only cost $1.7M and $1M, respectively. Fleming had a very good year last year (72.6 PFF grade) in a similar system. For reference, Mike McGlinchey had a 71.5 grade and got paid a billion dollars. Fleming also re-signed with Denver.

Matt Pryor had a 44.9 grade to back up Colton McKivitz. Man, for an oft-injured and recently cut swing T, they have a TON of faith in him and his depth.

Scary.

Correct, The 49ers should have around $11M-$13M to spend in FA next offseason, the money for in season moves will come from a BA extension.

AB, what do you think about Danielle Hunter, if Lynch wanted to be greedy and further improve our pass rush? Can we make the money work in 2023? Hunter has a very low base salary, and is probably more affordable this season than any of these FA edge rushers. This is purely a rental, and then we let him walk and get a 3rd round comp when he signs a big deal elsewhere next summer. Hunter and a 3rd (comp pick) for our 2nd? Could it work?

Doable for 2023, would be a $5.4M cap number. Not sure MIN has a 3rd rd comp pick in 2024. I doubt they trade him, now that Za'Darius is gone.

We'd get a 3rd round comp when another team signs him to a big contract, which I'm guessing will happen if he stays healthy with us, and we don't bring in any big 2024 FA signings. He'd see more 1v1 than he's ever seen in his career, so I'd expect him to have a big season across from Bosa and Hargraves/Armstead collapsing pockets. Minnesota also seems to be rebuilding, and an extension doesn't look likely, so it was reported that he's going to be moved sooner than later with teams calling them.
