Shanahan's don't invest money on the offensive line unless its for a starting left tackle. That won't be an issue until 2026 at the earliest. Kyle would rather invest in defensive line and offensive weapons.

25-30M of the 2025 cap? How frontloaded are the contracts you guys are expecting the 49ers to hand him? This isn't like the Jimmy G situation where we were sitting with 100M+ in cap space and a disaster of a roster. I think they give him a minimized salary and a really nice signing bonus to get his cap hit anywhere from 13-17M. Allows the team to remain competitive while Purdy's cap hits are low.

He won't eat up anywhere near that, more likely $14M of it.
Oh thank heavens. He's a nice guy and everything with an amazing attitude, but he is clearly a game managing, systems QB and nothing more.

He signed Center Weston Richburg to a 5 year 47m contract in 2018. Which at the time was a massive contract for a Center. He drafted McGlinchey at 9th overall in 2018. He traded for Trent Williams in 2020. He has a history of investing in oline pre 2021 when he traded away 3 1sts for a QB and 2022 when he traded a bunch of picks for CMC. Those moves depleted the draft capital of the 49ers so they had to focus on free agency to fill the depth of the team and didn't have a chance to draft oline early.

Kyle has to know he has massive holes at LG and C and a long term need at Tackle. I would not be surprised to see him invest heavily in the trenches this year on both sides

It's not Kyle as much as it's Chris Foerster regarding the OL. John Benton was the OL coach when they paid Weston and draft McG.

I hope they do invest but don't hold your breath. They had all the same issues last yr and in a OL rich draft didn't invest until the 3rd rd

Maybe its just wishful thinking but I do think they will invest a free agency signing and a top 100 pick on oline. Because not doing it is criminal activity at this point

Hopefully F/A, we aren't good at drafting o-linemen.

Incorrect

Shanahan does invest in a Center's too not just a LT. See Richburg AND Mack

Richburg was in 2018 when the roster was trash and we had like 120M in cap space. We barely spent anything for Mack as he was on his last wheel. He retired a year into that 3 year deal.

If I'm incorrect on this, so is Kyle. Not prioritizing the offensive line is something he actually talked about during the super bowl interviews last year.

We got a hell a lot of cap room.
