Decker had a BIG game, but he wasn't matched up with Sydquan. It was Hagan who he feasted on. I suppose that Cal kept him at LCB on their zone and Decker lined up often on the other side.
Sydquan had an outstanding game, both in pass and run defense. If anyone who watched this game does not agree it'll be interesting to hear why.

he did very well against the run, a couple tackles behind or at the los

Nice job by Cal bottling up the running game on my Gophers..... congrats on the win. Dominated the LOS.

As much as it bothered me that we didn't put this game away earlier, I think facing adversity was a plus for us.
Our 1st two games were cakewalks, and we go to Eugene next week and that place is not joke. I liked how we were able to come thru in the crunch time on the road with momentum on Minnesota's side and their whole stadium rallying behind them.
Even after the 3-and-outs in the 3rd quarter, I didn't mind them giving the ball to Vereen regardless of the failure. 1st two games Shane was huge for us so it made sense to continue to feed him the ball, he ain't no scrub, he's a playmaker.
What I'd like to see more of is giving Best breathers throughout the game instead of for a full quarter -
1st, 2nd, and 4th quarters with Best constantly on the field: Cal 35, Min 14
3rd quarter with Best barely touching the ball: Cal 0, Min 7

I think Best may have gotten nicked up by that ankle tackle at the end of the 1st half.
He didnt seem like he was running 100%
maybe its just me though

I knew this game would be a challenge. Minnesota played very well in front of their home crowd and kept it very close. Decker is a savage and needs to be recognized for an amazing game. What can I say about Best but amazing. However, Riley showed up when he needed to. Ludwig called a good game on the offensive side as he spread the ball around to everyone. The defense needs to play a tighter zone. They don't give up the big play but they allow a good 5 yards seperation on every play. Glad Cal got out of there with the W. It shows a lot that the team played their best ball when it mattered most. Keep this momentum going and roll on you bears!!!!

I kinda wish USC hadnt lost
IMO, they are gonna come out playing for their lives, as they cant afford to lose another game.
In the same sense, it puts a bit more pressure on them. However, it could equally put more pressure on us.
