That's always your argument with Lebron.

Just remember the guy who took over the game late in the 4th quarter and closed out the Celtics was Lebron James...

LOL. No it isn't. Not if your comprehension level extends beyond that of a 4th grader.

You should probably leave this one in 4ML's hands. He disagrees with me about most everything, but at least he's capable of cogent conversation.

Not true, I agree with you on whole host of issues...but we disagree mostly when it comes to Lebron and Kobe.

...and I hope you know that I really respect your views, even when I disagree with them. I don't dismiss or take your comments lightly.

I love Wade, so I'm not gonna argue against Wade. Wade was special today (and as you pointed out - in this whole series) and kept the Heat in the game, and Lebron was spectacular in the last few minutes.

Many (including you and I) were concerned if Lebron and Wade can play together. I'm not concerned one bit about that anymore. I'm really really happy to see them get past Celtics - but if they fail against the Bulls in conf. finals - all this means nothing.

Ya, I very much respect your opinion as well.

The thing about LeBron & Wade playing together though is that Miami's offense really hasn't been anything special. They're good, but considering that they have two of the best individual offensive players in their era, an all-star level 3rd option + spot up shooters, they don't produce at a high level on that end of the court. I think both guys dribble way too much when they have the ball, and it's led to a team that's really only so-so on the offensive end.

But good God, I can't think of a faster defensive team than this one in my lifetime. LeBron & Wade are the biggest part of that, being that they're probably the fastest SF & SG in the league, respectively. Plus, you have a legit rim-protector in Anthony, and one of the better defensive PGs in the league in Chalmers. That's really where their bread has been buttered.

I'd love to see a Finals matchup of OKC vs. Miami, because OKC is one of the only teams in the league where Miami doesn't have a HUGE speed/athleticism advantage over their opponent. Dallas would be interesting too, because they're the best passing team left in the playoffs.

Definitely OKC will be able to match Miami's athleticism. I do agree that offense isn't at it's best...but I personally don't like their spot up shooters. They are highly inconsistent. But, both Lebron and Wade can excel together, and in the beginning of the season - both of their numbers were significantly down.

If Mike Miller played like the Mike Miller we've all come to know, things on the offensive end could be different. Chalmers and Anthony flat out suck on the offensive side, and Bibby and Jones have gotten a LOT of open looks - and have been so-so. I do agree, Anthony has been a pleasant surprise on the defensive end.

Yes - both Lebron and Wade dribble too much, that was the case with Lebron in Cleveland too. To me, it's still work in progress, but I can see now that these two can play well together. I'm starting to see some post play from both of them (although not nearly as often as I would like to see).

On defense, both are great, especially Wade with ridiculous ability to block shots.

Lebron blocks pretty many shots too. Mostly in transition on fast break defense.

That depends. How do you compare Pippen vs Wade and does this Heat team have less talent after the 3rd best player than Jordan's Bulls?

Oh s**t! is that another thread starter?

I think the Jordan/Pippen/Rodman Bulls would beat this Heat team in their prime. I think this Heat team has a good chance to win this year. They can give the Bulls/OKC/Dallas a real good series. Obviously those teams present problems but so do Lebron/Wade/Bosh against who they play. They are a lot to handle too.
So where do I talk about the Celtics now?

No? Go for it.

Most of the other more talked about teams on this forum have an "Offseason" thread as well.
Doc Rivers is reported to be coming back.

http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nba/news/story?id=6535742&ex_cid=nhffromfb

Here are the Players under contract

Rajon Rondo (2014)
Paul Pierce (2014)
Kevin Garnett (2012)
Jermaine ONeil (2012)
Ray Allen (Player Option- already said he is coming back)
Shaquille O'Neil (Player Option- may retire)
Avery Bradley (rookie contract)

Restricted Free Agents

Jeff Green
Glen Davis (from all the hints i am getting they are letting him walk)

Unrestricted Free Agents

Delonte West (he is not going anywhere)
Nenad Kristic
Troy Murphy
Von Wafer
Carlos Arroyo
Sasha Pavlovic

We need to get younger and a more reliable Center....(I aam not going to pout over the Perkins Trade)

So lets look who could we pursue:

First lets look at our team.

If we predict that...

1) No one of big 4 will be traded
2) JO returns healthier and does not retire
3) We take Green QO or sign him in 6-7 mil per year multiple years
4) West is back I hope for LLE money 2+mil per year

...we have a core of:

rondo/West/Bradley
pierce/Ray/Bradley
green/Pierce
KG
JO

Now who can we get at PF and/or C spot for MLE or less money.

PF FA:
Chuck Hayes
Josh McRoberts
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (restricted)
Carl Landry
Earl Clark

PF market is very weak, so I think there is a high chance Baby resign to a similar deal like the last one 3-4 mil per year. Im sure no team will give him starting spot and quickly he will fell down to reality when fa begins.

C FA:
Joel Przybilla
Ryan Hollins (player option)
DeAndre Jordan
Spencer Hawes (restricted)
Samuel Dalembert

Man also C market is weak. We know whole league will be after Jordan and I see him resigning for LAC for around 8 mil per year. Miami and NY will go after Dalambert with MIA probably offering MLE multiple year contract. Joel Przybilla is injury prone so he is not good idea. Well, as I said about Baby, looking the players available Krstic may be the 3th best FA center and if we can get him for 4 mil per year we should resign him.

SF and PG position we have covered so lets look at SG FA list:

Here I think the best prospects are available:
Jason Richardson - to expensive
Jamal Crawford - to expensive
-----------------------
J.R. Smith
Arron Afflalo (restricted)
Shannon Brown (player option)
Chris Douglas-Roberts(restricted)
Marco Belinelli (restricted)
Daequan Cook (restricted)
Marcus Thornton (restricted)
Sonny Weems (restricted)

So if we do not use MLE at PF/C we should go all in here. I would offer full MLE multi year contract to Afflalo(26 years) or Thornton(24 years). JR Smith (26 years) may be the best player available, but he is the biggest risk with his behavior and crazy nature. Also Cook for around 3 mil per year would be a good choice.

My choice:
My number one target would be Jordan, full MLE multiple years. If not possible than I would offer Green in some kind of package for Jordan. But I think chance of LAC letting Jordan go are slim. So if no Jordan just resign Krstic than with MLE I would go young, maybe split MLE between 2 players one SG Brown/CDR/Cook/Weems and one PF McRobers/Moute/Clark.

We got to go young and athletic!!!
All this depends of course on the new rules

Done...

Carry on hijacking the thread
Young and athletic I agree. They are too old. Garnett and Allen they have to start looking at a long term replacement for. Trading Perkins was a mistake.

How was trading Perkins a mistake?

Celtics needed a long athletic player who could play a wing guy like Lebron come play time. They thought Green was it. He wasn't. The Celtics are trying to win NOW. Perkins offered them intangibles now...but long-term doesn't have much value as far as being a 2nd or 3rd option.
